Fishtailing to the cracks and back …

For those of you who might have read my ride report earlier this year, entitled “experiencing the Overberg as a pillion“, I’ve since progressed to my own set of two wheels, a beautiful red F650GS, named She-Raz.

Clanwilliam flower fun trip

We had a wet start  for 9 treavellers with 4 bikes and 2 motor vehicles at 09.00 at Panorama. We set off in a few rain storms until Eendekuil where we had our first stop at Agape coffee shop for refreshments and a well deserved break.

After waiting at the coffeshop for rider no. 10, which passed us at high speed,  we enjoyed our first flowers (Canola flowers) outside Eendekuil and the most fun on Piekenierskloof pass (views galore and speed open roads for the speed lovers). We grouped again at the garage outside Citrusdal.

Mystery ride to .... Eendekuil

Eendekuil was the destination of the Mystery Ride yesterday. Great thanks to Geoff for organising this very enjoyable event! The routes, weather, venue were perfect. The 37 bikes split into an off-road group led by Geoff Russel and a on-road group with Brian Messenger as leader. The split was 22 offroaders (incl 4 ladies!) and no less than 11 pillions! The road group were 15 bikes with 5 pillions. The offroad group split into two groups - leading group with Geoff and following group with Neil Terry. The road group went on a trip past Worcester, Wolseley, Tulbach, Piketberg to Eendekuil.

JR's Off-road trip to Wuppertal

Yet again another fantastically planned off-road trip. Andy & I were unexpectedly privileged to join the wonderful group of people Johann and Tanya Rossouw have brought together. As usual, there were a few new people, as some of the usuals could not join us - understandably, in this hectic time galloping on towards Christmas. Our group of 13 bikes & 18 people: 1200GSA - Johann & Tanya Rossouw (JR) 1200GS - HD Rossouw (HD) 1200GS - Ernst Bester 1150GS - Johan & Linda Burger 1150GS - Brendan Buurman 1150GS - Danie Malan (GeelKameel) 1150GSA - Ian Steyn 1150GSA - Andy Connell (Andyman)

Port Nolloth trip - In persuit of the Cold Chain

This was a trip I joined Andy on as pillion, to keep him company. He was doing research work for a client’s project. It was necessary to head off to Port Nolloth for 1st-hand appraisal of their food supply chain processes. So on time and in good Spirits on Andy’s 1150GSA took us off at 06h00 from a dark and blustery Gordon's Bay towards Port Nolloth. Yup- this was a rush so it was a road trip. Up and down in two days - 1600 kilos round trip!! We hit rain from just before Stellenbosch all the way to Wellington. You know the feeling.... do you stop and don wet-weather gear or hope it ends soon? I spotted good definition in the distance indicating no more rain, so we pushed on regardless of the drizzle and rain. But I tell you, it was blerrie cold! About 3°C Andy's Data Centre little gadget kept telling us (one of his many gadgets he carries with him). I think I had 3 jackets on altogether – dressed like a true Michelin Man.
