'Four wheels may move the body...but two wheels move the soul.'

My biggest fear is that one day I will look back on my life and wish I had done more. Experienced more. Lived more.  That I will regret the things I did NOT do, rather than those attempted and failed.

Oh no, not another one - A personal perspective of the Oct 2011 Eastern Cape Off Road Tour

I held back on starting a trip report just in case Rusty's report grew into something like the Namibian trip report. That doesn't seem likely now so here goes.

As before I will do a little bit every day until I eventually finish.

Here are just a few general comments before I get started.

A Personal Perspective of the Eastern Cape 8 Passes Trip 15 to 23 Jan 2011: Now with pictures

This is my account of our Eastern Cape Eight Passes Adventure. I didn't keep any notes, so everything is from my somewhat faulty memory and my skewed perspective. I'll try to write a piece every evening.

I bought a 1200GS just less than two years ago. I had started riding road bikes again after a gap of about 30 years but after 2 years on tar and watching Long Way Round I felt that there must be more to motorcycling than tar.

Naude's Nek and Beyond!

My friend Robin has a way of dropping bombshells. The figurative ones. "I'm riding my bike to our holiday house near the Kruger, via Naude's Nek" he announced. "Hmm," I said. Then I googled 'Naude's Nek' and the 'hmmmm' became a bit tinged with green. The highest pass in South Africa, and gravel to boot - what could be nicer. "Well, come along!" came the invitation. "Hmmmmm!!!!" I said
