Adriaan de Bruyn and I recently did a six day trip - around 3000km - in the Eastern Cape. We stayed over at Steytlerville, Hogsback, Rhodes, Haga Haga and Stormsriver Mouth. Here are a few pictures...

My biggest fear is that one day I will look back on my life and wish I had done more. Experienced more. Lived more. That I will regret the things I did NOT do, rather than those attempted and failed.
I held back on starting a trip report just in case Rusty's report grew into something like the Namibian trip report. That doesn't seem likely now so here goes.
As before I will do a little bit every day until I eventually finish.
Here are just a few general comments before I get started.
2011 October -- Our Great African Eastern Cape Adventure in the Drakensberg Mountains.

And why is it always about the group of people with their individual characters and group dynamics that always seem to make these rides so.........."lakka"?
This is my account of our Eastern Cape Eight Passes Adventure. I didn't keep any notes, so everything is from my somewhat faulty memory and my skewed perspective. I'll try to write a piece every evening.
I bought a 1200GS just less than two years ago. I had started riding road bikes again after a gap of about 30 years but after 2 years on tar and watching Long Way Round I felt that there must be more to motorcycling than tar.
