There were 10 of us who set off from Melkbos on Sunday. The weather was good with very little wind. Heading out of Hopefield we had our first obstacle. A section of road was closed due to an upgrade and they were only allowing residents in. After a few minutes of grovelling they allowed us through. I don’t know what the fuss was about as the diverted section wasn’t that long at all.
This was a very enjoyable relaxed ride. The weather gods played their part and gave us good weather on Sunday between the rain on Saturday and today.
Seven riders on seven bikes pitched up at the Winelands One Stop on the N1 for coffee and breakfast at 07:30. I already knew Bob Goode and Barry Hobson but Eric Pretorius, Llewellyn Truter, Derrick Geary, and Leon Silverfox (sorry Leon I don’t remember your surname) were new to me.
Breakfast was a leisurely affair while getting to know one another - we did not have far to travel and time was not an issue.

Entry for Motorcyclists & Vintage Car Owners is FREE but a voluntary contribution can be made to the Burger Newspaper Children’s Christmas Fund.
If you are not on your bike, the cost will be R30 per adult and R10 per child.
