On Monday the 1st March, in the soft light of the rising sun, I was threading my way through the early morning peak traffic to meet another three riders who had been attracted to the same folly. This was to ride through all of SA’s nine Provinces.
This ride was the result of something that has been bothering me for a while. The club has been on a roll for quite a while with many new members joining, particularly off road riders, with the result that rides fill up very quickly with long waiting lists. My riding has improved exponentially as a result of going on Warren’s rides which are exactly suited to me. I like everything about them. But for a while I have felt a bit guilty because my presence excludes new riders who should get the same benefit that I did.
We are planning a overnight trip to the Hessequas Campsite on the banks of the breederiver near Swellendam. The trip is planned for the weekend of the 3rd and 4th November.

After weeks of scouring the web for suitable routes and countless hours spent tweaking the selected route on Mapsource - I wanted to find a route that avoided the N1, N2 and R62 yet was suitable for a "solo" ride - Adrienne and I finally set off on Friday morning enroute to Wilderness.
Just after a gorgeous, windless sunrise, 8 bikes (with 3 lady pillions) gathered at Plattekloof Engen. My first glimpse of our fellow riders was Neil, sitting atop a pile of braaiwood bags, reading the Saturday paper, seemingly oblivious to the world.
After a quick rider briefing, we set off down the N1 in blinding sunlight, diverting off at the R300, dodging taxis and concrete barriers, then onto the N2. We turned off the N2 at the Firlands turn-off for Gordon's Bay.
