It's nearly that time of year again when the BMW Mororrad Club Cape visits Arniston again, for an overnight stay in the luxurious Arniston Spa Hotel.  Our trip is planned for the 24th of August this year, and there will be both tar and dirt options for you to ride.  Routes and departure details will be communicated to all participants closer to the departure date.

Availability is limited, so members and their guests will need to book soon. (Booking closes on Friday 16th of August or as soon as all rooms are booked, whichever comes first.)

Weekend / Overnight Ride / Arniston Hotel / 16-17 September 2017

Please join us for a weekend tar ride to Arniston, where we will overnight in the Arniston Spa Hotel.  On Saturday night we will be treated to a three course dinner, and on Sunday morning we will enjoy breakfast in the hotel.

Our route will take us over the Franschoek pass, through Robertson and on to Barrydale, where we will stop for lunch and refreshments.  From there we will ride the Tradouw Pass and head for Bredasdorp and toward the coast and on to Arniston.

Mid-Week Roadie Ride to Arniston.

Thank you to Geoff Russell for organizing an amazing day trip to the scenic little town  of Arniston, just outside of Bredarsdorp, Western Cape.I was lucky enough to go with to film some footage of the day's events.

10 bikes, awesome people, delicious food with a sea-side breeze, and scenic views to die for - definitely a perfect way to spend any Wednesday.

To view the photo's from the day please visit our club's facebook page (BMW MOTORCYCLE CLUB CAPE) and view the album created.

Mystery ride to Arniston

As always we met at the Engen Plattekloof. A group of 65 altogether chatted excitedly about the first “proper” ride since the rainy season. We soon split into our 3 groups with each captain telling us more about the ride. Johan de Jager simply said…the first stop is 30kms from here. The 650s behind me, rest follow; remember the staggered formation; Okay, kit up and let’s ride…we’ll talk over coffee and muffins. The group consisted of 10 bikes with an equal split between 1200s and 650s. This “less experienced group” also boasted with 3 women riders and although both Diana and Vanessa had very limited off-road experience they were ready for action by the time we’ve hit the dirt.

Mystery Ride - the Other Dirties trip report

About 35 bikers and 22 pillions gathered at the Plattekloof Engen for the September'08 Mystery ride. The ride was arranged in three groups - one group on tar (leader Brian Messenger) and two dirt groups (leaders Geoff Russel and Johan de Jager). The excitement was tangible when Geoff called our group together for the route briefing. Although some of us did actually know where the Mystery Ride would lead to, we did not know the route. This alone was exciting enough. He assured us that the route was to be very easy and relaxed. Well, I am sure I was not the only one that did not quite believe him! It turned out that he was correct - all green (and black).

Coast to Karoo Offroad Trip

Only 1 days leave necessary, yipppeeee!!!!!!!!! Have not been so excited about a route for a long time. This ride should offer everybody what they are looking for in an off road ride and is very "Pillion" friendly. So no excuses guys and girls bring your partners along. Yes I know it is directly after the Anysberg weekend however it is the only 4 day gap I have in some time. The route will be as follows (approximately): Thursday 1st May (Workers day): Depart CT for Ceres via some dirt sections. Then to Op Die Berg over Katbakkies Pass to the Calvinia road and on to Sutherland where we overnight.
