Solo Sojourns

Some think it folly, others madness, even dangerous and few are in agreement, to take long bike trips by oneself is the ultimate riding experience.

Is it not lonely, boring or intimidating are often the responses to hearing about such a trip?  Well it is actually wonderfully selfish.  You go, start and stop when or wherever you want.  Travel at a speed that suites yourself.  The Route can be changed on a whim and places explored without considering anybody else.

Our first Trip on a bike Report - Oudtshoorn Beginners Ride, May 2013, more pictures added

This was our first ever motorcycle trip and also our first ride with the club (or any group for that matter) and I therefore decided to join this group with Geoff for the beginners. My wife Denice had never been on a motorcycle before Friday the 10th of May 2013, since we only bought our 2007 1200 GSA recently.

Ride Report - Beginners Oudshoorn trip 2013 - now with video

This report is based on a first time beginner on gravel Laughing.

I chose to have a laid back trip as there was too much stress in the work environment. I did not want a trip with speed. So I joined Geoff Russell’s group. Yes you heard me correctly.

We all gathered at the Engen 1 stop at Joostenberg. After a meet and greet Geoff gave a quick talk.
