Dongas, daisies and dead-ends in the Maskamberge

Gifberg. The only landmark on the most tedious stretch of the N7. What’s up there? That question led Lance to Mountain Passes SA’s website; “connecting the dots” between passes in the Maskam mountain range.

BMW MCC Cape, Overnight GS ride on the Moedverloor Pad – 19 to 21 April 2013.

The Moedverloor Pad runs from near the Biedouw Valley north towards Niewoudtsville and is sort of a rough short cut, an O.G Pad that forms part of the Rooibos Heritage Route. It gets its name from a very small settlement called Moedverloor (Despair) that we will pass through along the way.

Gifberg - Misty beginning to a wonderful weekend in the saddle...

Every now and I open up the BMW forum in anticipation of a trip report of this last weekend’s outing to Gifberg... just so I can say thanks for another great weekend of riding, but alas... Warren has not posted anything yet, and I’m getting restless... Laughing

OF MUD, WET SAND, WATER, DUST AND LOTS OF FUN - GIFBERG

Saturday 29th May 2010

Area: Nieuwoudtville

Riders Geoff Russell, Andyman and Herman (Geoff's internet date)

The bikes:

  • 2010 spec R 1200GSA
  • 2007 spec R 1200 GS
  • 2004 spec R 1150GSA

This time I was early, not a very usual thing for me.

The instruction said,

“Meet at my house, 07H15 for an early start, the boss.”

On Friday night, between Absolute Rugby and Absolute Formula 1, I prepared for the early start.

This means a simple process of loading the pockets of my safety gear wit

Cederberg Oasis "Dirties" Weekend: 7-9 May (The longer way round)

I've loved riding in the Cederberg since the 1st time I was there, which wasn't much more than a year ago... So any opportunity to do so with some friends is always grabbed with both hands.

Trip down Memory Lane

Just a short report of a trip down memory lane - since my father passed away last year I had the yearning to visit the little town of Kenhardt where I first got some brains! It is now 50 years later - On my way on a rainy Tuesday MorningOn my way on a rainy Tuesday Morning I slept over at Nieuwoudtville - a little town on my way, where I had the privilage to be pastor for six years. I visited a lot of old folks, and also Griet - who used to work for our family for 14 years Griet and her son, Koos, was quite surprized to get a visit from out of the blue!Griet and her son, Koos, was quite surprized to get a visit from out of the blue!

FreakReport GAGSC 2007

The idea this year was to ride to the GAGSC with Ruan and Flipper, in theory this was good, in theory only. The day I was gonna leave I ran back and forth to the dealership and assisted clients, eventually I phoned Wayne, "boss you still have some space on the trailer?" Yes I do, great that me soft seat pink route booked. Next day myself, Wayne and Eddie depart for Papkuilsfontein with me curled up on the backseat of the doublecab like a labrador pup, bliss. On arrival we park up at the workshop where we find Shane and Obed hard at work changing tyres and sorting out minor problems. The first casualty already stands in the barn being used, one forlorn looking Adventure, I know from experience more will follow.
