Touring and discovering new parts of our country took on a completely new dimension when I started riding off-road with a motorbike many years ago. Once you start riding off-road, it is like seeing our country through a magnifying glass instead of through binoculars.

I spent my entire youth in the Eastern Cape, and was fortunate enough to live on a farm.

• Stayed at Antique Silk in Grahamstown - superb!
• Mr.Badger won a BMW Waterproof Luggage Roll for being the bike with the highest mileage
• Julie and I came 5th in the gymkhana

Early start - Julie likes to get to her parents early.

The annual BMW Clubs Africa BMW Bike Fest.  This was held in Oudtshoorn the last two years, and is now going to be held in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape.  This is one of the best bike events on the calendar.

''Kariega, Ecca, Bathurst in die OosKaap'' Die OosKaap bly maar een van die mees besonderse dele van ons land. Groot variasie van natuur en topografie. Ek gaan gereeld soontoe en elke jaar word ek verras met iets nuuts. Tussen Alexandria en Boesmansriviermond is 'n afdraai wat gemerk is 'Ngciyo' (S33d39'12" E26d32'11"E). Dit is 'n kort grondpad wat plaaslik bekend staan as die "Poor man's Game Drive". Dit loop vanaf die R72 na 'n teerpad (gemerk 343) tussen Kenton-on-Sea en Salem. Ngciyo Weerskante van die pad is hoe" heinings van 'n hele paar wildplase. Dit is 'n openbare pad, in baie goeie toestand en mens sien baie wild so al met die pad langs.
