Where was your bike, yesterday?

Just one look at the perfect weather we had on Sunday, and we got onto the Green Mamba. Bellville, Paarl, Franschoek, Grabouw, Hermanus and then back home via Rooi Els. I can hardly remember when last I saw so many bikes on the road. Stunning weather and good roads, what more can a man ask for? So where did you go (on your bike) in this perfect weather?

'''A:''' Monday ''(Except on a weekend when the Oertels have to work indoors, then it is the other way around...)''

Whaaaa!

Mag dit elke naweek so lyk! groete C

I took my bike out along the coast road from Gordons Bay. At Rooiels the ambulance was just leaving after collecting the rider of a bike that over shot the corner by the Bridge over the estuary and went over the side. The cops n vultures were winching the bike up, but did not see which bike it was. Lots of cars n lots of bikes out. Later, after the hungarian GP, Annie road pillion and we went kuiering a bit. Waht a leeker day Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

My bike was standing proudly in the driveway being packed / prepared for Karoo / Eastern Cape / Garden Route trip leaving on Wednesday morning. Had to do it yesterday as I'm up in JBurg till tomorrow evening.

Well today I rode about 135 kilometers in the helluva strong NW winds and the driving rain. To my chagrin, I find my 'new' two piece rainsuite lets the rian in at the crotch!! Cold nuts and wet thighs don't make for good riding companions. What can I do? I already sprayed some tent sealer over the area but the rubbery stuff is flaking off badly all down the legs. Damm these are expensive suites and they last as long as the el cheapo's. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

Hi Andy, Pop into Auto Atlantic and try one of their B M W one piece rain suits, cost about R1100-00 to R1200-00 or there-about. You do need an assistant to help you get into it if you are all togged up. Bum in the saddle, always.

Think before you ink.

Trust is the most valuable asset.

I have the rest of my life to get old.

Charles, jou are now almost like the guy shooting the videos. Everybody else is in his videos, but he never gets to enjoy anything because he is busy shooting the video. SWITCH OFF you computer and go for a ride - well maybe just wait for the rain to pass. :)

Friday I am on my way with the boyz to Middelpos - rain passed or not :) I just had to get a few things sorted on the site before I could show my face in public... did you notice the breadcrumb at the bottom of the page as per your request? Right now my TODO on the site is empty but it is a weekday... but a long weekend is '''one day away!''' ''BTW: to make bold text like I just did above, surround it with 3 single quotes, like this'' '''bold text''' ''and to make italics use 2 single quotes.'' regards Charles

I bought a cheapy rain suit at Integral Safety for R80 a year ago. Trouser comes up to just under my chest and no leaking seams. Had a hard tumble in the mud towards Prins Albert - no damage to suit. If this one is finished I'll just buy another similar one

Dankie Bester, nou waar is Integral Safety?

Also try out Leather Forever's rainsuit in Bellville. One piece but survived Prins Alfred trip in the snow with it.

Hi Padlangs, sien ek was verkeerd. Dis nie by Integral gekoop nie maar by Alsafe - hulle is in 23 Packer Ave, Epping.

Hey Padlangs I know Leather Forever - I did an ''intro to offroad'' course with Johan and have two of their kevlar jeans (both together cost less than the IBM City Trousers). And although the jeans are not the same thing as the City Trousers, it is easier to run past my wife that the protective pants cost R700 rather than R1600 ;-) For a rough biker like me on a shoestring, kevlar jeans and a pair of cheap waterproof pants makes excellent layering sense. The plastic pants fold up small and lie in my top box for when they are needed. I also have a nice jacket from Leather Forever, that I was forced to buy when a grateful client gave me a present of R2000 cash and instructed me (and my wife) to spend it on myself and not on food or essentials for the house.

Hi Cahrles, darem lekker kliente.

MY MAXIS suite leaks I have used my new MAXIS suite about 20 times, and the rubbery stuff inside flakes off like dandruff. I sprayed that tent sealer from Cape Union Mart. It helps until the next patch of rubber flakes off. On the Middelpos trip this last weekend, Rubber flakes rained out of my pants as I opened the bottom- all the flapping in the wind had caused it to delaminate. Maybe that el cheepo for 80 every few months is what I should go for. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

The americans (consumers) are threatning a total bouycot (spelling?) of Chinese products - due to the poor quality.

Don't be so hard on the Chinese !! 98 percent of all Chinese bikes and quads sold in SA are still on the road. The other 2 percent made it back home. Just !!
