HI All

I am desperately looking for a starter motor and flywheel on my 2002 1150 GS.

Just can not afford the new parts and Labour at BMW.

Can anyone help?

Regards,

Renier

My 2004 1150GSA loop afgelope 4 jaar met 'n staarter (moderne Afrikaans!) wat by Sparxx Automotive in Brackenfell gekoop is.

Detail:

Item Code STR673A

Description STR 12V BMW Motorcycles R1100

So iewers binne hom is 'n kortsluiting.

Voorspoed met jou soektog, laat weet wat jy regkry!

Danie - it is probably the magnets in your broken starter that have come adrift.  They cause it to jam from time to time and short out the battery.  A known issue with these starters due to the glue holding the magnets in the housing failing.  I bought a replacement starter that has the magnets physically mounted without glue.

Thanks for info. I will check it out some time. Fortunately the current starter (and the GSA) runs like a clock.

The old/original starter was okey when I tested it last week, worked fine when installed but played up three days later. Could be the magnets....causing friction on the rotor?

HI

Thank you for all the help thus far. I have managed to get a flywheel. Thanks Deon.

There might be a starter motor from peugeot that could work on the 1150GS.

Waiting on the part number.

will phone Sparxx Automotive in Brackenfell to see if they can assist.

Will keep you updated - hopefully the 1150 will be running soon.

HI All

Apologies for the delayed response, As indicated I found the flywheel -  Deon is definitely a "go to" person for Parts on the 1150GS models.  Details : 0837648535

I phoned Sparxx, unfortunately they did not have any starters.

I am now looking to import 1 of these to get the bike going ASAP.

Will keep you updated on the progress.

Dit lyk presies soos die siek een wat ek uitgehaal het uit my 2004 1150gsa.

Enigste verskil is dat die rat bietjie wyer is. Maar die wyer rat is soos die een wat nou in my gsa diens doen

HI All

Just to keep you posted on the progress.

Have the Flywheel and the starter motor I ordered from USA has arrived. Looking to get them fitted and we should be up and running again.

BMW is charging +-3000 on the Labour -  Any other suggestions on who will be able to do the job and save me some funds?

Regards,

Renier
