Road Accident
On my way in to drop off Mr.Badger at Donford Motorrad for the complimentary GS Trophy safety check, I was knocked off by a car while lane-splitting on the M3 just after the University turn off.
Not much damage other than scrapes on my helmet, holes in my rain suit, jacket, shirt and elbow. Mr. Badger suffered severe road rash on his tappet cover and protector.
The car had a shattered driver-side mirror, so couldn't see very well on the side he turned towards. He did indicate - but like so many others, his indicators went on while he was already turning. Basically, I was already in line with him when he turned, and didn't get a chance to stop or take evasive action.
The biggest thing broken is my 14 year commuting record without incident.
The breakdown vehicle man was most helpful.

Hi Charles - glad you're OK! Just a question - did the boxer motor protect your legs?
Did it make a difference? One of the reasons why I went to the boxer engine is the 'assurance' of a big wide cylinder sticking out to protect my legs in case of a side swipe.

Yes it did. the only damage to the bike is to the tappet covers and protectors. I cannot find any other damage on the bike. I was almost wedged between the two cars, but have no injuries to my legs. But then again, my legs are so thin it is hard to hit them, even with a car!
