Rim repairs

Hi , had a guy throw a large wooded board at me last night.

Hit my front wheel and fork.

Was a hard knock , recovered and rode on flat to get away from whoever was behind me.

Because of clauses... excess is 30 %

But i can have it professionally repaired for 2k.

Will it be safe after that ?

And does anyone have a 2013  700 gs rim floating around ?

Many thanks

David

P.s its only the one lip of the rim. , front and right looks unscathed.

It is good that you are unscathed.

Where did this happen David?

A frightening experience, very pleased you made it through, what time did this occur?

My initial comment re the guy in the bushes would not be considered politically correct.

The damage appears to be significant. There are companies that repair mag wheels, it all depends on how comfortable you feel riding with a repaired wheel. Have a squiz in the yellow pages alternatively contact Acme in J H B. for a 2nd hand replacement.

Think before you ink.

I am sorry to hear about the incident but glad you survived it without injury.

a bit of a dilemma, is the excess 30% of the claim amount or value of the bike?  If it is 30% of the claim, go for new and bite the bullet.  It is your safety that matters

Thanks guys.

Ill call acme in the am and see what the have ( didn't know they exist )

Im sure  second hand rim is cheaper than the excess on a new one.

Ill save insurance for a bigger claim touch wood it doesn't happen.

Hi David.

Just learned today of a place in Parow/Bellville called GS Traders which only stocks 2nd hand parts. Try them for a possibility. Have no further detail but I am sure they wil be on Dr Google.

Good luck. Jacques

I used to work in Athlone as a cop. Anything lurks behind and around every dark corner or alley at any time of the day. Gangster valley.

Just be wide awake if you ride through there and make sure u have backup.

Everybody is not that bad but try to avoid the gangland zones,. there are a good group of bikers protecting their territory. just report to them on arrival and your safe passage wil be secured.

if you are ringing ACME, then you should also try 'Brad' (Acme should have his number...); he is MUCH smaller than ACME, but specializes in 2nd hand BMW parts, I don't have his number handy, but when you come across it, it has 4 consecutive '5555's in the number!

Also up in Jozi.

Sorry for the hijack, but where is Brad situated and does he have alot of BMW Parts? I am looking for a LHS Combination Switch for a 2002 BMW F650GS, or only the indicator switch will do.
