Ok here we go! The Riverine Rabbit off-road tour organized by “Rough and Ready, Africa Motorcycle Adventures” is on. This is a trip for the beginner and the intermediate rider and is pillion friendly. All accommodation is in your own tent and evenings are spend around the big bonfire where the days adventures are shared. Pre-trip meeting on Thursday 12 November at about 18h30 The trip leaves from “Nelson wine estate” on Thursday 19th November at 08h30 and we are back Sunday 22nd November. It works as follows; ===Day 1=== Wellington to Calitzdorp. A drive over Du Toit kloof and along the Kwaggaskloof dam to Robertson. Route 62 to Montague and a nice technical section brings us to Anysberg. From here we scale the Rooiberg pass and get to our destination shortly afterwards. Camp is set and food prepared the African way! Distance for the day 390 km ===Day 2=== Calitzdorp to Loxton. Through Groenfontein (The Scottish highlands look alike) and over the Swartberg pass to Prince Albert. The Molteno pass going through the Riverine Rabbit conservancy takes us to our end and famous fillet braai! Distance for the day 350 km ===Day 3=== Loxton to Sutherland. A real zigzag route via many good gravel routes takes us to Williston, here at the “Mall” we have lunch on my account and make our way to our last overnight stop in Sutherland. A lecture on the many things we see in our Galaxy will keep us busy till our scrumptious meal is served.. Distance for the day 360 km ===Day 4=== Sutherland back to Wellington. The route leads us through the Moordenaars Karoo, the Witteberge, Touwsriver, Slanghoek and Bainskloof. These are but a few of the attractions on that days ride. Our customary farewell drink is served at the “Deck” Distance for the day 370 km Total distance for trip 1470 km. Rental bikes available for this trip. The cost for the four days, amounts to R1300.00 This includes all camping sites with accommodation in your own tent. All breakfasts, diners and the one lunch at the mall. A backup vehicle with recovery trailer follows us everywhere for the possible emergencies! ===Please pay into:=== Standard Bank Wellington RCG Desodt Check account 072221046 Account number 00051001 Branch number “Rough and Ready” dinners are as per usual, lots of red meat, vegetables and wine, a good selection of wine available at decent prices. Breakfast you may know from last time, its just coffee and cereals! Lunch we pick up on route and is for your account except for the one mentioned above, that’s on me! There is again a back-up vehicle with trailer! Remember you carry your stuff, not the bakkie! Distance traveled will be about 1500 Km of which only 250 will be tar! Your payment ensures travel! Hey guys only two weeks to go, going to be a jol, some nice places earmarked to overnight!

Just confirmed all the accommodation and numbers at the remote places we overnight. Men what an experience, these people are the salt of the earth and just want to have a nice chat. Don’t know what my phone bill is going to look like but I had fun and I haven’t even left!

Hi guys As discussed here is the packing list for next week! All meals are provided for except two lunches, all snacks and drinks is for own account! No cooking utensils (pots, pans) needed, A cooler box with ice is provided for the frosty requirements! If you have a camel bag take it or otherwise take some small bottles of liquid for along the way! Bring tent, mattress, sleeping bag, small chair, cutlery, mug, glass and plate and also stuff for personal hygiene (soap), towel and some casual clothes. Also a small light for the darker moments! Tyre repair equipment is essential and tubes for the non tubeless bikes, don’t forget your tool kit. Pump, tyre levers, spare tyres (second hand) and some petrol is carried by the back-up vehicle. As this is a small group there may be ample space in the bakkie for your overnight bag ( 1 ) Let the weekend come! Get some sleep, you may need it! Greetings
