Thanks to all 18 marshals that attended the ground school.

Yet another successful training morning.

MARSHAL TRAINING- WORKING WITH HELICOPTERS AND SECURING A LANDING ZONE.

Thanks Philip for arranging and mustering  whoever was available for this first session.

The next Ground School Currency session will be in 6 months time- same place, same time.

And of course thanks to Andre and Dion, the hoistmen of AMS and Don -pilot  and the WSAR operatives and Metro medics for their patience and time.

It was an interesting morning.

The Team was alos bloOding a new  mountian rescue opartive  to hoisting onto a ledge and fiVe or six metro medics & mountain rescue crew were doing their currency training which they have to do every 6 months to maintain their operational status.

Dion gave a thorough brieifng on the various equipment and techniqies used.

Then they flew 6 sorties up the mountain, inserting three teams onto ledges on the slope near the top and then recovering them again.

Most only stayed for two or three take-off's and landings.

Thanks a lot Andy and Phillip for the effort!

A very interesting and enlightening experience!

Few people realise the complexity and inherent dangers of helicopter rescue work.
