Lunch Ride - Birkenhead Brewery - Stanford

Charles Oertel's picture
Birkenhead: As the first brewing estate in the Southern Hemisphere, we run a small but growing micro brewery situated in the Western Cape of South Africa. We have much to offer, not only to the beer enthusiast, but to those interested in visiting our beautiful country estate near Stanford in the Shadow of the Klein Rivier mountains. Here you will find out about our exceptional beer, our country estate, our brewery and our restaurant and pub where you can come and enjoy our delicious food and freshly brewed beer. Birkenhead restaurant: The Birkenhead restaurant has an exquisite setting nestled at the foot of the Klein Rivier mountains. While you sit and enjoy the view, dine from one of our set menus or indulge in a tasty pub lunch. Every Sunday you can enjoy a buffet lunch while lazing the Sunday away with a premium beer, brewed the natural way. All this while the kids jump around on the jumping castle or simply run around on our huge estate. Come and relax at our beautiful estate - and be spoiled rotten. We cater for big or small groups. There also is an off road group being lead by Johan de Jager, have a look http://www.bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/lunch-ride-birkenhead-brewery-sta... Ride details: Meet at the Engen, everything you need to know will be discussed at the meeting point. The map to the meeting point and other information on what to bring is at these links: * [http://bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/node/1 General Club Ride info and map to meeting point] * [http://bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/faq#41n65 Frequently Asked Questions like 'What to bring and wear?'] * '''Note:''' This ride is a ''lunch ride'' and we meet at '''10 am'''. It is also an invitational ride, so bring your friends that ride non-BMW bikes.

except after lunch people
except after lunch people get slack - and just want to get back home as quickly as possible. Maybe Steve T can plot a route for us with his new GPS.
There are so many problems in this world. Luckily there's a wristband available for almost all of them.

I had a chat with Johan and we decided it will probably be best if we all ride together via tar to Stanford. After lunch we can perhaps take some dirt roads back. Johan and Tracey might join us for lunch, obviously they will use the car :-) I hope all the dirties understand :-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

OK, I've invited a mate Chris (Africa Twin) - he joined us on the Elim trip. he's most excited. PS/ Who will be leading the off-road ride? I'm assuming Johan will not be in any shape to do so.

Hey Corné, I will have to sit this one out. Hamman discovered that my one bearings on the Diff of my RT is going and will have to be replaced under warranty so I don't want to chance anything happening on the ride... Andy1200 Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly!!!

Hello Corne Please add my name for the roadies for Sunday, if there is still space. Many thanks Frank p.s. Is there any way to find out what the route will be in advance? My folks live in Kleinmond and my dad would like to join, but he can not travel to Plattekloof on the N1/R300 as his bike is still not fully run in. If knew where to wait he could perhaps join us en route.

To be honest here, it's
To be honest here, it's going to cost more for the petrol than the meal. So R90 for all that food is nothing. And as we all know, we love to ride and there is no expense that can beat the freedom and thrill of riding a BMW so really what are we worried about.. Going to try and convince my fiance that this run would be good training for the long haul on the mystery weekend, she is a little nervous of 400km is one day.. Keep your feet on the pegs, and your hat on - Safe riding to all

Theo, I would just like to
Theo, I would just like to get confirmations on numbers, your word is good enough for me :-) Initially the restaurant wanted a deposit because we have booked for 60 people however I assured the restaurant the we will pitch and that gathering a deposit is a logistical nightmare :-) You are now registered for this ride ;-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Yep - I will be there. If the same as the last ride for road-bikes to Eendekuil, it will yet again be a sound ride. Thank you for the initiative to organise more events of this nature for the road-bikes, other than the enjoyable breakfast runs. Do we have to register in advance - or just pitch at Engen? Theo
