Handlebar Bag

I also bought one but haven't tested it yet.

Let us know if it in anyway obstructs clear vision of all dash-board dials and gauges and if so, quantify it.

No obstruction at all. I do'n have all the other goodies fixed to my handlebars which some guys have but I guess one can reposision those.

Glad it works, maybe 'those' guys can put all therir current bar loading intot the bag thern we can be on a level footing.

No but they do fit into the Micro tank bag from Bags-Connection with the electric Top-ring power supply,

whihc is snap-on, snap-off. lock-able, weatherproof, but nowehere to be bought in SA.

However Jaques this bag you bought, if it does not impair dash board vision is fantastic.

Mounted on a good stable part of the bike, like a glove box.

Easy access to store and retrieve and it will carry the radio, hub and phone.

does it attach with velcro straps only and can you lock it on?

It is only secured with velcro straps and comes with an extra sling strap which you can use either as a moonbag or just over your shoulder. I have double secured mine with cable ties and when I leave the bike, I take my wallet, cellphone camera/valuables with me.

So I am at the All Things Bike show in JHB, and I see a beautiful show bike with the Wunderlich bar bag on, seemingly facing the wrong way! This way, the flap faces AWAY from the rider, and you open the bar bag TOWARDS the rider. The bag sits lower, and it works brilliantly, so I may have to re-visit my 'instructions' on how best to fit them!

I have tried it now both ways and with the flap opening towards you, mine is definately obstructing my view on the instruments more than when it is mounted to open the flap away from me. It also obstructs you when putting your key into the ignition. With the flap opening away, there is no obstruction at all.

So, my opinion is that it should be mounted with the lid opening away from you. This is for the bag for models after 2010 which I have. You will have to look yourself for the pre 2010 models if there is a difference. 

Go Google the product under Wunderlich Handlebar Bag. The first two posts gives you the product in 2010 and 2011 on video clips. You will note that on the 2010 video, the bag is mounted to open towards you and in the 2011 clip, the bag is mounted to open away from you. This must have sometning to do with the handlebars.

A question about the size of the bag: Will it fit a cellphone and 2 GoPros with some spare batteries?

I put quite a lot of stuff in mine. Don' think it will accommodate 2 GO PROS with casings. Best is to ask Chris at Flying Brick. They might have something new in the market which will accommodate your needs.

My 2c worth:

I have had the same bag for a good couple of years now and am very happy with it. I specifically bought it for my mobile phone to charge while riding, so when I get to my destination, I always dismount with a full battery and do not have to take chargers, adaptors, etc with when going on trips. So yes, I have "wired it" with cabling bought from Flying Brick, together with a easy clip cable connection, to remove the bag when not on a trip, i.e. for normal communting. The bag has a special cable feed hole on one side for this purpose. It adheres to the handle bars with velcro straps, but I also fix it with cable ties on either side, through the bags eyelits, as a more secure precaution.

The Wunderlich bag does come at a serious premium price though and a much more economical option, would be the generic copy of this bag, available at Wild@Heart (I am talking of more than 50% cheaper!), if Wild@Heart still makes/stock them. A "problem" I do have with my "model" of the Wunderlich bag, is that the closing flap is only held down by velcro only (from Jacques pic, it looks like this is still the same) and I have experienced at higher speeds, this closing flap is blown open by the wind - not a serious problem, but a bit of an irritation. The Wild@Heart bag, has a strap & clip closure, which I prefer. So, if I had known about both options at the time, I would probable have gone with the Wild@Heart one.

...i hear you, Dudley, on the Wunderlich handlebar bag pricing; last week we opened an account DIRECTLY with Wunderlich, Germany, and placed an order, so in the future we can cut out the 'middleman' and then we WILL reduce the price, possibly by as much as R200 or so...

We also stock a 'generic' version, though I hesitated stocking it for 24 months since I felt it was VERY CLOSE in design (not execution!) to the bag (Wunderlich) - that it was trying to emulate.

Eventually we stocked it, and it sells fairly well, but to be fair the Wunderlich bag is brilliantly made, and is truly -one-bag-for-life.

I do NOT think 2 Go Pro's AND cellphone will fit, pop in and TRY, and we have 3 other options in stock, as well...

Yes, we sell, R570 vat incl, and they come with a 90-degree adaptor for ease of reaching the valve, as well as a handy pencil-type tyre guage.
