Archive of BMW Motorrad Club Cape (2006 - 2019)

The first pensioners run went off well this morning.  There were 12 bikes and 13 people present with quite a few new faces among them.  It was fitting that Jacques Botha, who gave birth to this run, was with us.

The weather was kind with the temperature being in the mid 20's. The ride up was easy, stopping only to help a Honda rider with a puncture.

A tour of the diggings was first up.  As usual it was both fascinating and thought provoking.  This was my third visit.  On each occasion I have had a different guide and been given a different perspective of the site which keeps things new and interesting.

A tour of the lab and museum was next up and also very interesting.  In the lab a technician had been sorting out tiny frog and lizard bones into little piles on a tray.  This is exceedingly painstaking work.  One sneeze and three months worth of work would been down the tubes.

After the tour we had lunch in the coffee shop at the park.  My hamburger was very tasty and someone mentioned that he had had first class fish and chips.  I hope that everyone had a similar experience.

After lunch some of us went home via Malmesbury and others down the West Coast Road.
