Thank you to Tanya, JR and all those involved. It was an INCREDIBLE time both at Elim and Pearly - Danelle and I were so glad we could join! The Hamman team were also brilliant - giving those kids that could a quick spin on a GS - they were having so much fun I was tempted to hop on the back myself! There were so many gifts to hand out that not one, nor two, but 3 Bakkies were required just to cart it all there! Andy, our own little Kersfader is probably the only 'Jolly' red suit who will ever be seen standing on an 1150! Mother T - you do such wonderful things for these children - you're an inspiration to us all - thanks so much - Keep it up!

This trip was amazing!!! Seeing all those presents in one room was magic. And the kids were great. Thanks to everyone who helped to organise this trip, and the people who spoilt us with food and accommodation in Pearly Beach. It is an absolute pleasure to be associated with the club where we have so many people who freely give of their time and money to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We spent most of Sunday shopping for the children - 8 trolleys later....sore feet and nagging kids. The Elim Christmas party has taken over most of our household, but be that as it may, I am very excited about the trip on Saturday. I chatted to one of the Elim nurses this morning who informed me that eventhough one of the children sadly passed away last week, the excitement can be felt in the Home - not only by the children, but also the staff. If you don't have anything planned for Saturday, saddle up and join the rest of the Elves on their trip to Elim. You don't have to book to join us, just pitch at the Garage on Saturday morning. I have 11 bikes confirmed for the Elim trip which is already an improvement on the 8 that did the Christams Party last Christmas. It will be good to again have the 40 bikes making their way to Elim. I managed to get a house in Pearly beach that sleeps 24 people inside and there is a big lawn for those that want to pitch a tent. Accommodation is free. We will be heading there after the party for a 'rustige' kuier and braai that evening. Please let me know if you are interested in spending the night in Pearly. Some exciting news.... In addition to a generous donation from Hamman Motorrad, they also offered to take a bike or two in their van with their equipment (PC, printer and laminating machine). They will take the children for a ride, print and laminate their pics and hand it to them on the day. This will be an experience of a lifetime for the children. Funds are looking good. I'm waiting for a response from Toys-r-us and will keep you guys posted. For the guys not doing the all passes trip, please join us on the trip to Elim. The children are looking forward to seeing the bikers. I've mentioned before that we will be doing an on- and offroad trip, so there should be no excuses. Tanya I'm based in Pta but a regular visitor to this site. It is such an enjoyable experience reading about the bike life in Cape Town although I will always remain a Blue Bull supporter. Just over R2000 now. Thanks guys. Last year we got to just over R6000 which amounted to roughly R45 per child for the gift and eats. The challenge is on to equal or better this number. I'm hoping to get enough funds to make party packs for each child (chips, juice and a few sweets)and here I would definately need assistance. Please keep the donations coming. 26 days to go..... and there has been no response to the request for donations to buy the gifts for Elim Home. I'm looking at buying gifts of not more than R30 per child. The last day for donations will be the 31st of October. It would be sad to have to cancel the Christmas party as the children are looking forward to the party and the bikes. Santa and the Elves will saddle up on BMW reindeer for another special Christmas party in Elim on the 8th of November. Elim Home and Mispah School have become friends of the BMW Motorcycle club in Cape Town. Elim Home cares for 51 disabled children between the ages of 5 and 30 requiring special assistance. Mispah School provides support and schooling for 84 children between the ages of 6 and 18 with learning disabilities. We will be doing an an on- and off road trip. Elim Home and Mispah school provides me with a list of suggested gifts which I then buy from a wholesaler at a discounted price. Gifts range from rattles to balls to dolls etc. For those who would prefer buying a gift, you are more than welcome to do so, but I would suggest that you make contact with me to discuss the appropriate gift. My Christmas wish-list for Elim (funds permitting) : •A small toy for each child •A small gift/chocolate for the 43 nurses/caregivers in Elim Home and the 37 teachers/caregivers in Mispah School •Lunch for the children on the day. 21 of the children in Elim Home can only eat purity. •Chips/cooldrinks/sweets for their party packs – soft chips and sweets for the 21 children mentioned above All of us have many pictures of the surroundings and beautiful scenery we experience on our motorbike trips, but in our hearts and memories are the imprints of the children in Elim, the interaction with them, the facial expressions and the joy of our visits to the place they know as ‘home’.
