The ever popular - Cape Town Cycle Tour takes place again this 6th March.

Newlands Rotarians see to many organisational facets of this huge fun event.

Newlands Rotary NEEDS YOU !

35000 cyclists need your help to get them over the finish line.

If you have a SCOOTER/motorbike and would like to assist on the day,

Newlands Rotary is looking for motorcycle riders with spirit who will be riding on the course and helping with punctures and  general assistance.  ROADSIDE ASSIST

You all Will endeavor to get the cyclist to the finish or at least the next refreshment station where they can get further help.

The 12 riders patrol the route from about 8am to 4pm looking for cyclists broken down.

Newlands Rotary supply all the spares and tools needed and pay R250 to say “ thank you “ and covers any minor expenses.

PM me if you are keen to join this fantastic event.

This is separate from the BMW Bike mounted sector marshals.

Whatever your bike, you will be providing a service many will be grateful to accept.

A great initiative.  While marshalling I spent a lot of time repairing punctures.  One lady did not even have a pump, let alone patches etc.  Another declared that it was not the tube that caused her tyre to be flat, because she had just put in a new one.

Even if you are not particularly technical, just having the right equipment will make a big difference - and if the cyclist doesn't know what to do, there will be others who do and will help.  If you are familiar with bicycles you will be a hero on the course.

Awesome Idea

What a great idea - Last Year I also spent a lot of time helping cyclists repair punctures etc. It's a super way of interacting with the riders and immersing yourself in the camaraderie of this epic race.
