Blesfontein - the Tankwa with a difference

Anna-Marie's picture

So, it been a week+ since our return from this magnificent off road weekend into the Tankwa Karoo.....what a hectic week to recover and cathing up to do, but ticking the boxes.

Thank you to all that were so active with sharing their special shots on facebook....WOW it was busy for more than 2 days with the most amazing pictures and memories.  Knowing that some forum users are curious about this outing, I'm posting some of the views and experiences.

Just a special thank you to all that made this weekend memorable with like-minded souls... like Jackie calls us.  Well, I was thinking about this trip a lot and it is confirmed that this tribe is no where else to be found...the cameraderie and fun shared unique.  This trip made perfect by the venue explored...a team effort to organise...a legend ride leader...a feathered Andyman as sweeper.....a Kwagga as back-up...some caterers at sundowners with a view no money can buy...a birthday girl...an Indian as a braaimaster...a local astronomer...unique accommodation...in house entertainers...karoo hospitality...endless views...laughs and fun....crazy and awesome roads...dream machines....brave pillions....nature in bloom...and a very typical cold  starry Sutherland night.  What more do one need??

Ok, here the pics with comments:

The Rendezvous and briefing ....some new and familiar faces

Serious talking and spelling out the ride etiquette...remember the thumbs up rule

The sponsored back-up vehicle...thank you to BMW Donford Stellenbosch and the driver, Kwagga alias Shane Jooste

The girls team...just wanna have fun

Deflating...a good idea for a smoother ride

Time for regrouping...this is what it's all about...some dust.. yippeee..

Boys and their toys

...and a happy birthday girl...Tarryn..tell me who has been sung to by such a crowd at such a spot??

Organising can be fun...just doing some Army "appél"

Can't pass this stop....last stop for a decent toilet and a cold one...PS: don't miss the classic 1150's

A breather as we tackled our way to Ouberg Pass

Oppad soontoe....

The only way for me to take a picture...no ways to get off the silver dream machine on this angle

The map

Our view point just before the last bit of Ouberg Pass...breathtaking

Blesfontein with its ....Alcapaca's

Some of the accommodation...each with its own character

Blesfontein "SALT"....Nicol entertained us with interesting facts...or was it the otherway around???  Tell me what is a satellite?? very informative and fun session in the cold, starry karoo night...everyone with its ouma kombersie

Sundowners with a view.....

Cheers....to everyone that ride so fantasticly

Die plaasmeisies with a stunning sunset at the back

..and that smile can bring u into trouble...

Campfire stories are made out of dusty rides...maybe taken out of your comfort zone every now and then

Sunday morning and time to saddle our horses again....luckily they all had a warm sleep in the farm garage and fuelled up...thanks Nicol for having fuel ready for the group...just for another day of fun on spectacular roads

....but a farm breakfast needed first...Marina and her team served us well

Goodbye to the bacon

It a Spring ride with some patches of flowers en-route

...Blomme kinders

Where did we go??

Keep on making Life a Ride....with the best...

Until we meet again....the End, for now...

Wow!  One thing that can never be overdone is to convey a vote of thanks to each and every one who planned, organized, contributed, shared, related etc to an amazing and life enriching weekend!

It was most certainly an awesome weekend, new friendships were forged and old ones renewed.

It remains an honor and privilege to be a member of the BMWMCC.  So little time but yet so much still to be done and experienced amongst like minded souls!

Keep up the good work!!

What a way to spend a birthday, it was one to remember for sure and yes, I got sang to no less than 4 times on that day, and at every venue we arrived at!

So thank you to Andy for that and to the group for making it such a special and memorable day indeed!  heart

Thank you also to all, for the arrangements, backup support and all the hard work that went in behind the scenes, to make it such a huge success!

yes

Regards Tarryn
