I have read quite a bit on this forum and some others about the fuel computers software issues with the R1200GS and GSA. I have had no issues yet touch wood and hope it stays that way, but some people say put Sasol in, other say Engen, which one is the best and is there really a difference. Sasol's 95 always seems to be marked as Xcel, is this the same thing?

Freakfuel. This is just my opinion guys so dont take it to heart, as they say an opinion is like an asshole, everybody has got one. I have kept an eye on the issue about fueling and software problems, knocks and pinging and kept my distance. This is in response to Johns post on my part. I dont know either who makes buys adds fuel from who, I dont care anyways. The test has been done ass on seat hand on throttle for +/- three months, test vehicles consist of XChallenge, R1200GS, F800S AND Opel Corsa 1.4I. The result: I find the Sasol to be far superior to any of the other fuels in every respect without fail. Power ,response ,economy all improved. The only downside is there are not enough service stations around. http://www.sasol.com/sasol_internet/frontend/ssl_index.jsp;jsessionid=T1... Sasol turbo™ unleaded 93 & 95 SASOL unleaded petrol grades are fully refined and contain all the additives necessary to ensure optimum performance under South African conditions. To distinguish the various Sasol petrol grades from one another they are dyed to the following colours: turbo unleaded (R93) - Yellow turbo unleaded (R95) - Green Sasol turbo unleaded petrol (R93) is intended for use in most spark-ignition internal combustion engines operating at altitude. Sasol turbo unleaded petrol (R95) is intended for use in all spark-ignition internal combustion engines, including vehicles incorporating forced induction. It is recommended for use at sea level and only suggested for vehicles designed to use higher octane at altitude. All Sasol turbo unleaded petrol grades comply with SANS 1598 and the Government legislation for metal free unleaded petrol. I RIDE THEREFORE I AM!

Thanks Freak, so is Excel part of Sasol or something different? The garage up the road from my office, which is very convenient, has Sasol LRP and diesel, but their 95 is Excel?? Guess I'll go to the one in Maitland, it's only 5 clicks away

Excel is a BEE company initiated by Sasol. Sasol owns 22.5% of Excel. I would be surprised if the fuel is not the same. Kobus
