Trials helmets come to mind.  They are probably more protective, are very comfortable (padding and ventilation), have a little peak - but cost about R1500 each.

I phoned Trevor for you: he can do the KAPPA Demi-Jet (a half-height helmet) is available, at around R1600 Retail, (I reckon he would do a better price on 10x...) he has assorted colours, and it is a CERTIFIED helmet, I suspect that it is Dept of Transport (DOT) certified.
