I bought the Navigator V on Saturday. Connected it to my PC, Registered it and updated it with the latest software via Garmin Express.

Then I tried to use Mapsource to connect and load up some of my favourite waypoints, but Mapsource can't see the device. It only sees a 'removable disk'.

I've seen this problem before when I tried to connect my brother's Zumo to Mapsource. We ended up having to download Basecamp and use that, but I don't like Basecamp and I use Mapsource on all my other devices.

Can  anyone confirm if the Navigator V is compatible with Mapsource, or not?

So many mountains, so little time.

don't think your "problem" has anything to do with Mapsource cool

Device is working as designed .....

1. Connect Navigator to PC via USB.

2. Open Windows File Explorer

3. If you do NOT have a SD card on the Navigator, you should see one "removable disk". This is the internal storage of the Navigator.

4. If you DO have an SD card, you will see two "removable disks" - the internal storage and the SD card.

Mapsource is history unfortunately you will have to use the horrible thing called "Base camp" that even confuses the clever people.

Mapsource still works on the old units, my Zumo 400 & 550 still work fine but the info is from 2013 I think.

Somebody with more knowledge of GPS's may be able to be of more assistance.

Mapsource works happily with my Zumo 660.

BaseCamp is the way forward, and it works fantastic once you figured it out.  BMW Navigator V software is written by BMW IT guys and not by Garmin which means that the Nav V operates slightly different in BaseCamp than the Zumo 660. Club member Stephen had a great workshop session on Garmin BaseCamp set-up & discussion for BMW Nav V at Donford CT early in November. Send me your email address so that I can forward to him. I am sure he would be able to help you.
