Many of you have read about my experience with a one year old red R1200RT. After a glorious two weeks, at 16000km the final drive bearing went, three days later the gearbox bearings went, the next day the final drive splines got tired and departed. By now I had lost all faith in it. Wayne, Dave, Marius and Shane were SO tired of my long face they offered me a full refund, a large discount and a brand new one. You can see it in photo D on the Check it out!! posting. I took delivery yesterday and watched the odometer go from 1 to 2km as I drove away. This might not be what you expect from BMW but it gives you great faith in the dealership. I have been driving BMW cars and bikes for over 30 years. Auto Atlantic has done all the work on my cars since 1990 and gladly, their excellent service is equalled (now maybe bettered) by Atlantic Motorrad. PS My new bike is now safely parked in my garage, so I have no need to suck up to anyone, just saying thank you for a wonderful DEALER experience! I hope I have no need to ever bother them again, except for routine servicing :-)

Hi William, now THAT is service!! Weldone Atlantic Motorad. May you have many pleasant hours on the new bike. Are you running the engine in this weekend to Oudtshoorn?

Padlangs, forget it, Dave says 5000 revs max, about 150 in 6th, boring in rush hour to work and back, worse on open road :-) actually Dave said no steady cruising, what is worse, problems or running in? Taking no chances, will do what Dave says, maybe I can have my first service next week. Hate those Japs passing me while the cars are standing still. Maybe drive to the pub and back 100 times this weekend, hope my liver holds.
