I think, however, that your expert is generally known as a behavioural or cognitive psychologist or some such, rather than a "traffic accident expert".

The phenomenon is widely known, so I guess you (your friend) just need(s) to find a psychologist willing to testify. Alternatively, and here you know better than I, s/he may be able to argue the point by submitting appropriate literature instead.
