Any one interested in a repeat trip and stay over Saturday evening in Sutherland during July or August, a trip to the telescopes can be organized by the people we stayed with. He was the senior guide at the Observatory. Please let me have your comments Cliff

Yes Cruiser, we might join if I could persuade the wife that mid-winter in Sutherland is actually the best time to visit there (crisp clear skies for stargazing). No serious, I would love to visit Sutherland. Please post a bit more info on the forum. Possible dates?. Tar or dirt to Sutherland? Accommodation & costs? Logistics, etc. KIND van die WIND

Cliff, We would also consider it as my wife and I would love to see the observatory. Benna - mid winter in Sutherland - should be VERY romantic.... ;-) Danie.

I'm interested. Very interested. Would love to see the observatory.
There are so many problems in this world. Luckily there's a wristband available for almost all of them.

Sounds good, will this clash with the club's winter tour? What dates are you looking at and what routes? Who is arranging accomodation/meals/costs? Ignore opinions, heed facts. Feet on the pegs, always.

Think before you ink.

Trust is the most valuable asset.

I have the rest of my life to get old.

Just chatted to Cliff. This is in fact the Winter Sutherland ride with an on and off road component. Cliff will be posting the dates etc shortly as well as getting Charles to mail the invite to all the members.

I will be there. Nothing will keep me away. Cheesy, are we leaving a day early again? Will we have one of those special trips with an overnighter at Matjies? If there are enough to grease the throat I may sing again. Hope there will be some snow this time round.

HI ChristoE We can certainly leave a day earlier, do you want to invite the foreigner and his good wife Alison? Hy moet maar 'n plan maak om daar te wees. I have arranged for a special brand of real smooth grease for you. Ek sien uit daarna. Ignore opinions, heed facts. Feet on the pegs, always.

Think before you ink.

As long as he can get rid of the sea weed in his hair. Sure he should be part of this reunion. The special brand is something else. You know I first start to sing then I cry. We must just stop the special brand while still singing.

Hi Methusala (Cheesy) and Bionic Man (ChristoE met die Hoepelbeen) Thanks for the Invite and Thinking of us. If I have an exact date may be able to extract myself from Seaweed Obligations but need to know fairly soon as am scheduled to be in either Singapore or Rotterdam July/August. Would love to hear Bionic Man lift the rafters with his Daar Kom Die Alibama...also have Stunning 20W40 Special Brand imported from Madeira and bought here in Luanda to lubricate more than just his knee and vocal chords! Who knows we may even be Blessed with the company of our Top Deck "Koeksisters" who were my neighbours last time round and had me looking all over the Klein Karoo for Saimese Cats at 01:30 in the morning ...Are we keen ...??? Yebo!!! Cheers Brahman

Brahman, a slight correction is required here. ;) Durbanville Medi Clinic has an EXCELLENT wheel allignment centre. Right now die "hoepel been" is more "straight" than you and Cheezy put together! :) NO garantees though on his allignment after that 20W40 though. I would LOVE to go with you guys - I start at a new company in March. Probably not a good idea to take long weekends while on probation. ;) Today Greta and myself have our 17th anniversary (2 February) - so I'd best switch of this toy and start spoiling her!

Yes please, count me in too, depending on final dates. It was not as cold as expected last year, particularly with electric blankets on the beds. It was a super weekend, highly recommended. James.

In 2006 we all said it "was not cold". When we got back Sutherland was in the news as it was -10 degrees!! I think the first reality is that the town is not as cold as at the observatory. Also the braai area had two indoor fires going. It was so hot that the men were walking around in short sleeved shirts. Brahman was dit die vuur of die "voggies"? The guest houses all had heaters and electric blankets going from sun set, so you dont actually know about the cold. The walk from the eating place to the guest house is the only time you get to experience the weather. The start lit sky is something to behold!! NO open lights outside. STUNNING!! Cliff keep us updated on this event, please.

I'm in for 2. JohandeJager It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed. I'm the guy that'll be sneaking out of the bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at my bike.

My first off-road ride, after having done the 'Intro to Offroad' day at Zevenwacht, was this one. It is plain riding on gravel roads. Some twisties up Ouberg Pass. Not technical unless you cannot ride on gravel roads at 100km/hr.

Steve have a look at the post from CRUISER. He gives the various websites that covers this area. When you phone, remember that this is still a "farming" community. If they reply that their place is fully booked -ask for names and numbers of other places. You would be surprized by all the info they will give you. :) NICE bunch of people.

I have boojed my accommodation and put my name down for all the stuff - observatory and supper. Can we see a name list of the riders and guests so we can make sure we're all confirmed? To be sure ... I am riding dirt and meeting one wife (mine) and her friend there. That means 3 in total for the observatory visit and the supper. Thanks. ''The world needs dreamers that DO!''
