The weather forecast for Sunday is excellent! Remember this is an invitational ride, so bring your friends that ride non-BMW bikes with. We have booked for about 60 people and I only got about 20 confirmation so far. Please email me or reply on this thread: Forecast: Sunday, 22 June 2008 Min: 12°C Max: 19°C Weather: Fine Wind: moderate northerly Sunrise: 07:51 Sunset: 17:44 Corné ckloppers@gmail.com

Cloudgazer and side-kick are in.
There are so many problems in this world. Luckily there's a wristband available for almost all of them.

Zebra and, er, side-stand, are in :) Actually, just Zebra! off-road, if that's an option. Chris http://www.themanorcottage.co.za

It's Julie and my anniversary on Monday - we have booked accommodation in Stellenbosch on Saturday night. We might pitch up at the venue, but I would hate to impose a deadline on our activities during Sunday morning (if you get my drift). Thanks Charles, but I have no interest in your drift, so no need to post a trip report on that one :-)

Hi all: Please note that the venue for Sundays lunch ride has changed. We are now going for lunch to Dassiesfontein instead of Birkinhead. We will still be leaving from the Engen petrol station at Plattekloof at 10h00 sharp. Please do not be late as I will need to confirm numbers at 10h00 with the venue. Enjoy a safe ride with us in predicted fine weather for Sunday. Brian

Hi Brian If we are going to change the venue from Birkenhead to Dassiesfontein I would like to take my name off please. Dassiesfontein is just up the road from us. Hope this is still ok. Cheers Frank

Frank, Brian said he will take us the `long way round` to Dassiesfontein... you will get a decent ride in, don't worry ;-) The reason we had to change the venue was due to deposit demands from Birkenhead Brewery at the last moment. It will still be tar ride going there... we can discuss some gravel roads over lunch... going back... Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Corné, this is a surprise: for once you are making a genuine mistake and not being your 'diplomatic self'....Frank is a roadie...see his avatar. I think only out of extreme politeness, and polite he is, will he take an interest in your gravel road discussion.:-)

hehe :-) The gravel road discussion was only ment for Kobus ;-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

I hate to be a killjoy - but since this has become a tar ride, my side-kick and i will not be joining you guys. No offense to the 'roadies' or anything. I hope you guy have a lekker and safe ride on Sunday.

SteveO, when we did the Houwhoek ride we also rode together on tar and after breakfast we did some off road. I hope this can be the same? Unfortunately Johan had a spill as you know and he was going to lead the off road ride. I also asked Neil however he might not make it because of flu. Anybody else want to lead an off road ride to Dassiefontein? I'm just TOO directionless to even attempt leading a ride ;-) Depart at 10AM and ETA should be 12h30 - 13h00. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of tar riding... I feel I hold up the road riders behind me, since I'm pretty slow (especially in the twisties). I know it's not a race, but nevertheless I do not enjoy the idea of holding up other riders. and definitely don't get a thrill from leaning into corners and stuff like that. Also I got a GS for a reason - to get dirty!

Steve, come ride with me after work or anytime you like... I promise you will get VERY DIRTY! :-) I will even wash your bike for you when we done ;-) I've discovered two places close to my house... An abandoned MX track (Next to the Goodwood prison) and a stormwater outlet area. At the stormwater outlet you can do some serious sand practice and at the MX track with all the rain we had you get slippery mud... good fun to practice power slides... The stand practice placed me in a good position for the West coast trip we had over the weekend... That sounds awesome Corne. Would love to join you. My only problem is I usually only leave the office at 6. so, will either have to make a special plan to leave early or do it over a weekend. Lets make a plan!

Hi Corne Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have since accepted an invitation from Hamman Motorrad to ride to McGregor, another place I have never been to before. It made sense to choose a destination that was new to me as Dassiesfontein is around the corner, so to speak. Hamman has also been asking me to ride with them since I bought my bike and so far I never have. They are also just such a lekker bunch of people as you guys and it is hard for me to say 'no' to anyone. Hope this won't upset too many people.... Corne, tell Neil I will talk about off-road trips with both of you any day of the week. I ride a road bike because that's all I can afford! Don't get me wrong, I love riding on the tar, but I think you guys have more interesting trips than we do. Now if I can just win the lotto so that I can afford to buy indicators and windscreens in bulk, I'll be looking out for a nice single cylinder F650GS. (the REAL GS). ;-) I will ride with you guys again soon, and if the budget allows, want to go along on the Sutherland trip next month as well. If anyone has suggestions about which accomodation is best (i.e. CHEAPEST:-) ), let me know! Cheers Frank

If you need a support vehicle for Atlantis, let me know. (Just not the 29th - I'm doing a "Reach for a Dream" thing there with the Jeep Club)

Morning Corné and all,you mentioned earlier in this thread about the possibility of me taking a dirt group back, SORRY, but at this stage the flu is too bad for me to feel safe on a bike. I briefly rode the scooter yesterday.....NOT good, possibly as bad as driving drunk, please don't rely on my availability. The traffic department awarded me a licence to ride the roads,...indicating their faith in my judgement of when to and when NOT to eh;-)Corné. Possibly best I try not to let them/myself down.:-) May all have a great ride! I'm hoping for a miraculous recovery:-)
