2013 Springbok Rally (and Die Hel)

I thought I would share this with you guys. As some of you know I am involved with this rally and besides doing their photos and writing for some magazines I also lead a group of riders to Die Hel for a little bit of adventure on the Saturday. This is a new addition to the rally and is very much enjoyed by all that have done this. If you have never done this here is your opportunity.

The Springbok Rally is a family rally, it is very suitable for kids and partners of all ages, whether you arrive by bike or car you are welcome at the rally. I will again this year lead a group to Die Hel so if you guys want to come along you are more than welcome, there is no extra cost, except the rally entrance fee and you pay for your own lunch in Die Hel.

I recce the route on the Thursday/Friday before just to make sure all is ok and no roads have been washed away or snowed in. I then brief the group on the Saturday morning and if the weather is ok we have a day of fun.

There is a prize for the best represented club!

The Nomads Motorcycle Club are again hosting the 2013 Springbok Motorcycle Rally from the 27th to the 29th September 2013 at the De Hoek Mountain Resort. The Resort is situated 35kms from Oudtshoorn, on the road to the Cango Caves, and is tucked away in the Swartberg Mountains.

The purpose of holding the event is to offer fellow motorcyclists a weekend of enjoyment without the noise, doughnuts and exhibitionist behaviour experienced at other Rallies. The Springbok has become known as the family rally and we have every intention of maintaining that tradition.

"Buff" type behaviour is unacceptable. If you cannot enjoy yourself without "Buff Stuff" we suggest that you do not enter for this Event. We intend enforcing strict control and, if necessary, will not hesitate to evict anyone who misbehaves.

To those who "played ball" at past events, a very big "Thank you".

NEW FOR THE ADVENTURE RIDERS

“Kevin van Blerk will be taking a group of adventure riders into Die Hel for lunch on the Saturday. For those who have ridden off-road before this will be within their capabilities. For those that have never ridden off-road before and are interested in joining the ride I highly suggest you do a little off-road practice beforehand. Kevin will recce the road before the weekend as the conditions can change with rain or snow.

An announcement will be made on Springbok Radio as to whether the ride will go ahead or not. We will leave De Hoek at 10am and have lunch in Die Hel at 1pm. We will be back in De Hoek at about 5pm. Lunch is to be paid by each person in cash.”
