Hi all,

The newbie was a question:

I own a 2007 BMW GSA.

I'm looking to have my machine spray painted - does anyone know of, deal with, work with or own a decent spray paint shop?

I'm looking to have her painted in the next month or two, flat black / matt black as per profile picture. I want to have the the exhaust done & the motor - would have to be heat resistant, and then the rest of the frame, swing arm etc.

What quotes would be considered as fair?

Help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Keep safe!

God bless!

Francois

Craig Customs could do much of what you are asking, they specialize in bike spraying, and have a good/very good reputation.

Cheers

Unless you plan to keep the bike for a long time i would not suggest changing the colour as it will make your bike extremly difficult to sell. BMW buyers are very critical about non standard and generally do a lot of research before purchasing. Even a respray to original is seen with a critical eye, the assumption that the bike is a rebuild... My 5 cents worth.

However if you do go ahead, as Chris recommended, but i think its Clives Customs (havent used them myself) have been recommended before and the exhaust headers would have to be power coated.

Cheers

The pipes have to be Ceramic coated not powdered.PowerKote Montague Gardens.  Try Clives Custom in Natal St Paarden Island for wet spray.

You can also try my spray painter, Mo on 082 968 9834 or muammarb@gmail.com

I've used him for all my work for the last 10 years and although his work is not the cheapest, it is mostly flawless.

He works from home in Maitland.

Yes, Max is right, I got my 'Griags Motorcycles' and 'Clives Customs' swapped around, so it is indeed 'Clives Customs, in Natal Street, paarden Eiland.

What Max says is true - if you see a bike in non-standard colours, then people think it has 'history'...

What you CAn do is thoroughly document the panels in photographs immediately BEFORE spraying, so you have a record of before/after...

Hi Max,

Thanks for the advice! I will definately take your advice.

I'm planning on keeping her for a long time, hence the spray work I want done. Zebra also mentioned taking pics of the parts before and after, for future reference with a potential buyer if I 'upgrade' to a newer model. Definately good advice and will do so.

How is the missus enjoying the top box? It was a pleasure meeting both of you!

God bless and have a wonderful day!

Clive's Customs Bikes in 5 Natal Str Paarden Eiland (021 510 2019)

Melvin is the guy there who repaired and sprayed my panels after a fall. They do a great job.
