Hi guys (and girls), what is your guys experience with the Large sports softbag. I am doing a 1500km trip next week and need some extra space (i have a BMW topbox on my 650GS) and was wondering if it is worth getting as I don't do long trips that often adn maybe you guys have some tips for me.

I have the sport's bag, works very well, stable on the bike once mounted, sidepockets not watertight not designed as such, however main compartment seals properly, great investment!! Do it today, maybe there is no tomorrow!

Tony, Working on my own into Africa trip so I've been in a bit of contact with overland travellers through Africa and also asked just that question of Ewen McGregor. They all say they took the top box off and replaced with a soft- weatherproof- sportsbag. Side pockets are very useful and it can rek of krimp soos jy goed uithaal en inpak. The LWD team did not take top boxes at all like they did on the LWR trip in 2004. The sports bag goes just behind your butt across the seat extending to the panniers. use cam catch webbing straps to secure it to the saddle with a cargo net stop bits flapping around. Makes more sense and lower c-of-g than the top box. Give the tank bag some consideration, various makes available but as usual the BMW ones work best. Bum in the saddle, always.

Think before you ink.
