Hi there, I am looking for a "soft" top box/bag thingy to strap onto the back of a 1200GS. Any sugestions and where to look for? Not a big travel bag but mainly for commuting. regards

Try Bones Hewitt. Bacbones, does a really nice set of bags and strong as well.

I bought a soft topbox from Auto Atlantic. They were R1800 if I remember correctly. Works like a charm.

Not wanting to put a luggage rack on the 'S', I got a BMW tankbag and a Bacbones Generic bag. The Bacbones is tapered to fit the seat nicely and on a 2-day trip, it is all I use. You are not even aware of it, whereas the BMW tankbag messes up the windflow and lifts my helmet, which is otherwise neutral. I don't think the Bacbones is as weather resistant as the BMW bag though and while tough, is not as nicely made either. Just my 2c worth...

The other day I saw a pretty cool bag at Hammond BMW. It was bigger than mine, and it seems waterproof but unfortunately I didn't see a price. What do you want to use it for? Day to day stuff or like a weekend away???

Oops, yes. Hamman! Then I think the one at HAMMAN might be a bit big. It's more for weekends. I use mine for day to day stuff and I have used it for a weekend away with the missus. She got the whole top box. I got one clean set of undies. All you need anyway. :D I will see if I still have a picture of the one I have.

A picture of the clean undies or the softbag? I don't think the forum is the place to be airing your wares :P

I went mostly soft, although I can go hard. I got it all from Flywheels Trading. Soft luggage as well as hard top box that is. Excellent service from Trevor Scullard Tel 021 5111 007 Cell 083 227 3577 ''If you can dream it you can do it!''

In my opinion, a Kappa top box is the answer for a bike that's used daily for commuting. The K46 on my ST easily holds my laptop (15.4in screen)and when I arrive, the helmet, gloves all get locked in the box. By comparison, the cost is about R1200 compared with the soft bags which are going to cost way more. (Oh, and if you keep the price tag on, it'll look like it is badged for your bike :-o ) It takes only seconds to fit and remove the box and, as I've tested it, has no effect on the bikes handling or performance, right up past 200kmh. Yep that's what I have. Kappa K49 top box (quite big!) for commuting and Kappa soft gear and a BMW soft bag that replaces the top box for touring. You can use either Hermanator or my number to contact Trevor ... both work :-) ''If you can dream it you can do it!''
