Archive of BMW Motorrad Club Cape (2006 - 2019)

One of the best by-products of the Mountain Passes project has been the never ending South African folklore that forms the core of the agony and achievement of the passes - a sort of cement that holds it all together in a way that can never be destroyed. Today we take a drive to Groot Marico and Zeerust in North-West Province and visit the true Bosveld - this is where Herman Charles Bosman created his marvellous characters, like Oom Schalk Lourens and the other characters in Die Voorkamer. We take a look at Bosman's strange life and dig into his death sentence, which was shortened to four years and the irony of him dying at the young age of 46.
