The start of winter is an excellent time to improve your riding skills and have some serious fun on your bike.

The next two Country Trax Western Cape courses coming up in May are the Dirt Bike Fundamentals Course at Eselfontein near Ceres (11-13 May 2012) and the Sand Riding Course at Klipbokkop (18-20 May 2012) just outside Worcester.

Both of these courses are only presented once a year in the Western Cape. Do not miss out on this opportunity.  If you have done the Intermediate Weekend course, then the Sand Course will take your riding to the next level and slay the 'Sand Monster' for good.

If you have just gotten yourself a little dirt bike to play on (that includes the ladies on their 230Fs), then the dirtbike fundamentals course is brilliant.  You will learn to master your bike in a safe, responsible environment, and have a lot of fun.  I did this course sommer twice because it is so good and such fun.  A bit more information on what you can expect:

Sand Riding Course at Klipbokkop

  • Where:  Klipbokkop outside Worcester
  • When: 18-20 May 2012
  • Duration: 3 days
  • Price: R3,350.00
  • Includes: Tuition, 2 nights accommodation, all meals from Friday lunch to Sunday brunch, drinking water and loads of fun.

Pillion and non riding companions are most welcome - rates available on request.  The Sand Riding Course is presented exclusively by Country Trax Western Cape. It is designed to equip you with the skills you need to conquer the ‘sand monster’. After this three day course you should among other things be able to ride in thick sand (fast and slow), reduce your speed and brake in sand, corner at speed, make u-turns in sand and set your bike’s suspension and tyre pressures for sand riding conditions.

Successful completion of our Weekend Off-road Course is a prerequisite for attending the Sand Riding Course.

This course is intended for dual purpose/adventure bikes, although it is valuable for pure off-road/Enduro/Dirt bikes (typically <550cc) as well. All brands of bikes are welcome!

If a weekend of thrills, learning and laughing whilst building yourself as an off-road rider is what you expect, you will not be disappointed!
Double your skills and half your fears.

Dirt Bike Fundamentals

  • Where: Eselfontein (Ceres)   When: 11-13 May 2012
  • Duration: 3 days   Price: R2,400.00
  • Includes: Tuition, 2 nights accommodation in Eco Huts (sharing) or camping, all meals from Friday lunch to Sunday lunch, drinking water and of course loads of fun.

Master a new set of skills, build confidence and be comfortable on your dirt bike. This training is suitable for Enduro/Dirt Bike riders riding bikes of typically 125 – 550 cc engine capacity.

Your skills and confidence to ride an adventure bike is greatly enhanced when you learn to handle an Enduro/Dirt bike correctly. It is GREAT fun and you can practice many techniques and tricks on the smaller and lighter bike which you can apply with good results on your big adventure bike. This course is also ideal for self taught Dirt and Enduro bike riders who want to get rid of bad habits and who, by applying correct techniques, will get much more enjoyment from their bikes.

Some key elements covered in the course:  The underlying philosophy of the course is that only if your basic skills are firmly entrenched, can you advance to becoming a good dirt bike rider. Topics covered during this course therefore include basic riding positions and riding style; balancing; cornering on flat ground and in ruts; jumping over rough terrain, logs and holes; river crossings; emergency stops; wheelies and ‘stoppies’; as well as practical and technical riding over a wide variety of terrain.
