On Tuesday it was Julie and my 19th anniversary. I used the voucher donated by Russell Rathbone to the club (and awarded to me) to book us a night at [http://www.ruslamere.co.za/ Ruslamere in Durbanville]. The venue is ideal for a midweek escape, because it is close and no trip planning is needed. ==The Staff and Service== Incredibly friendly and professional staff welcomed us, and showed us around the establishment before showing us to our room. Both Julie and I noticed that the service is very attentive, yet friendly and informal. I am normally quite shy and reluctant to ask for service, but here everybody was approachable, even for me. ==The Rooms and Facilities== Very elegant furnishings and fittings make the whole place have an air of luxury homeliness. Our room was spacious, clean and uncluttered. The bathroom was spotless and of top quality. The shower worked beautifully, and the bath was of an ideal size and layout. The bar and dining-room area was cosy and inviting, though we did not spend much time there because the room was so nice (flat-screen plasma TV and all). ==Food== This is best described as 'good food, home cooked'. The menu is small, but big enough to cater for all tastes. Julie had fish with a black mushroom starter, and I had steak with a Greek salad starter. The food was delicious and wholesome, and I could imagine eating like that for days on end without eventually getting sick of restaurant food and longing for a home-cooked meal. ==Conference Facilities== On this occasion I did not use the conference facilities, but have experienced them during club committee meetings. This venue is well-suited to a corporate indaba or off-site training. ---- Julie and I left after a hearty breakfast, and are still in the afterglow of a lovely anniversary getaway at a stunning venue. Thanks Russell for donating the voucher, and thanks to the club for awarding it to us.
