Wow, I popped in to 4Stroke Adventures in Durban Road, just higher up from the key shop.

They have an inventory you can browse off or you can look though the shelves.

From headlight protectors to foot peg inserts, all sorts of arb and random bike parts.

He has two whole racks of bike parts and bling thta has come off bikes or from guys who no longer use them.

Got a lekker bargain for a Right Hand Tappet cover- when the owner had his dakaged LH cover replaced, they came in a set so he sold his RH cover on consignment to 4Stroke Adventures for their Rommel trommel

Crash bars, Bash plates.

All at very reasonable prices.

I remember suggesting this idea to every bike shop, but although everyone thought it was a good idea, no one wanted to shift their arse and do anything.

I mentioned this to James at 4 Stroke while on a ride and the next week received an invite to drop of parts and come see his ROMMEL TROMMEL.

Of course 'next day' became the next month and I dropped of some kit and he added to his inventory.

Then yesterday I needed a bracket, went to rummage, found just the thing and went away a happy customer.

I also found the RH tappet cover.

If you have bike bling or kit you do not use, cluttering up your garage, then go drop it off, he gives you a receipt from a carbon book, adds it to his excel inventory and puts it in the shelf.

A really cool resource to bikers.

If James could post his spreadsheet on the site, people can browse it from the site.  Then, together with John Hamman's list of inventory, we would have quite a resource for the bike-needy.

Yup, you mentioned it to us, and we promised we would do something...

and we did! We negotiated for enlarged premises, and planned to move in on 06th Jan 2015, and be 'up & running' by 20th or so of Jan...

the existing next-door tenant had other ideas, and made us wait until 28th Feb, despite a written agreement...

So we take over the additional premises on Monday 09th March 2015, and plan to have them up and running, with almost certainly a rommel trommel shortly thereafter.

Andy - just so you know, I take your support and suggestions SERIOUSLY - sometimes the time is just not right to jump on an idea, but rather plan to take it up!

We started stocking a new tire brand this wek, are busy importing alternative road books from Greece, manufacturing another range of bags for bikes, stocking up for the expansion, and planning the logistics, recruitment, Yada Yada.

Thanks for running it past me - appreciated!

best regards

Chris - and Team

Thanks Chris, you should continue to to do this, I have found two items, one I wanted, one I needed.

I am encouraged that from a discussion on the trial while eating munchies and discussing the ride, we got to spares and usable old parts and then inside a week, 4Stroke had set up   some racks in a store room and started accumulating parts.

They buy and sell bikes and they often replace worn parts with new when putting a bikes's party dress on.

So they too end up with some used parts or mis-matched parts and their rommel trommel makes excellent sense.

When I eventually did go to see their set up, after several invitations, I just emptied my  shelf of parts I no longer need and took it  over.

I'm really glad every time he tells me he sold one of my items and then transfers money.

At least the part has a new life at a price the buyer is happy about.

Charles, The list is dynamic because parts come and go so don't expect to see a list on the forum ever, unless he is clearing shelves.

It's a small side-line of his business so people come in to look at bikes and then they check the inventory list or browse the shelves.
