Archive of BMW Motorrad Club Cape (2006 - 2019)

I am planning to do a route to the Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba in May 2008. Knowing that outthere are some experienced “Off road” adventures and me not having ventured into those regions may I ask some advise? I intend to ride, besides the obvious, the following routes! 3 May – Aroab via D0503 in direction Mata Mata D1022 to Unions End D1046, D3820, D1700 and D1739 to Buitenpos grens. ( Namibia ) 7 May - Katima Mulilo via M10 to Mongu ( Zambia ) 8 May – Namushakende to Luampa to Mulobezi to Momba to South entrance of Kafue National park and on to Kalomo. ( Zambia ) 14 May – Nata to Thabatshkudu to Mmattshumo to Lethakane through the Makgadigadi pans( Botswana ) The dates mentioned are the dates of departure not the date intended to finish the route, some routes may take more than one day to complete! We are on BMW GS Adv motorcycles and a Ford 2x4 bakkie with diff-lock. Have you being on these routes before, what must we be aware of? Can the bakkie manage the route and if not, why? The bikes have the ability to go anywhere but better be warned than sorry, the Bakkie can take alternatives. Bike petrol range 650 Km plus Previous trips have let me realize that EGO issues have spoiled the information, therefore rather ask reliable source as yourself!
