Sounds like a great ride, but to anyone doing this, bear in mind that you need to be "bikefit". In Europe, as the summer approached, loads of bikers got together to take extended tours of the continent. Sadly, there was a significant increase in the number of bike accidents as people were not "fit" to concentrate on their riding for such long periods, day in and day out. Work on your stamina by exercising regularly, read books to boost your mental ability to concentrate on something for extended periods, and eat brain food such as fish, banana's and other protein laden foods. I'd love to read the story of a trip thoroughly enjoyed by many. I'd like to see the photo's and read each riders little contribution. I don't want to read about mishaps that could have been avoided. Enjoy it, Lawrence Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safetly in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadsides, loudly proclaiming WOW, What a RIDE!

Road Trip Sounds great! I might be interested if you do not ride too fast; 120-140 is OK. You do not want to do Upington in summer, and you do not want to do Middelburg in winter. Must be April/May or August/sept/Oct. Pieter Steenkamp 023 614 3100

Pieter most of our trips are at the speed limit. The group rarely exceed 130. Those that have the need goes ahead at the passes, enjoys themselves, and then waits for the group at the other side of the pass. This general rule works well to accomodate everybody. And do not worry about being the slowest in the passes - MANY of us ride slowly in the passes. ** How about a mailing list for peole that are interested in ON road rides? I know a number of roadies that only read here occasionally - normally just too late to join a ride. With a mailing list we might be able to get the message out to a bigger audience, quicker. Any ideas on how to make this work?

Padlangs, Just ask Charles to send your notices out to the Club via the members list. Works well for the off road rides. Geoff.

I can make an off-road only newsletter, and an on-road only one, and keep the current one for complete coverage of both groups. A member can then decide which newsletters they want to subscribe to. Then, Geoff can send off-road to only those interested in those notices, and Padlangs can send on-road notices to all who subscribe to them. Those interested in both can subscribe to both.

I suggest that all members are added to all lists by default and then have the option to opt-out. That way you can be assured that nobody can say "But I didn't know about it" only to realise that they didn't subscribed to a particular email list. my $10 000 000 Zim tip ;-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Possibly make three copies of the complete list - All, Off road and ON road. Send the OFF and ON road out to everybody and ask them to unsubscribe if they so wish. This would probably mean a LOT of work, but as Corne says then NOBODY can say were excluded. Also many of the GS riders would also subsrcibe to the ON road list as MANY GS riders DO partake in on road events. But hey it is easy to make such a statement if you (I) are not the one to do the WORK. Charles THANKS, wich ever way you deside to go about it.
