Road bike rental
A fellow from Germany is looking to tour the Western Cape a bit. He's mostly ridden a BMW R75/6 - so sticking to road.
Q1: Any recommendations for a rental company? A quick Google shows:
- Cape Bike Travel
- Cape Bike Rentals
- Yamaha Adventure
- GS Africa
- BMWAdventures (Dualsport Adventures)
Q2: I assume it's best that he brings his own kit. I don't see options on any of those sites for renting it. Is there anywhere else?
Q3: Really good road routes. I'm a dirty. Tar is what I use to get to the really good stuff 
- There's Route 62 of course
- And following that through to Oudtshoorn gets Meiringspoort and the Outeniqua and Robinson passes.
- There's the Montagu pass just off the R62.
- What else is there that floats a Roadie's boat?
I reckon you covered it.
And I could not do any better with recommendations than you could so go with your ideas and the options you have listed are all ok I am sure.
My smart money is on Cape Bike Rental.

I am sure that the guys rent out kit as well.
I know GS Africa does.
Better to bring his own in my opinion.
How about: Bains Kloof, Mitchell's Pass, Through Ceres, Theron's Berg pass, turn right towards N 1, Right again, Turn left to Montagu via the Koo Valley, Towards Aston, turn left to Swellendam to N 2 Past Buffelsjacht, turn left to Suurbraak, left again to Trudeau Pass to Barrydale, left again to Ashton, Robertson, 10,0km before Worcester turn left to T junction, left again to Villiersdorp, either straight to Grabouw and then right to Sir Lowery's pass and home OR Right at the Dam to Franschhoek then Left at Rhodes Fruit farms and onto Stellenbosch.
There is enough to keep a tourist occupied for a day or three.
