Hi William, sorry to hear that. Any idea what the problem is? ''The world needs dreamers that DO!''

If you can dream it you can do it!

How about a GS ;-) William what went wrong? You mentioned something regarding your clutch last time? Good luck buddy! Hopefully it will be covered under warranty. Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

How many other RT's have done thousands of kilometers without breaking down... Chris Dunn, don't be influenced by only one incident, things like this happen. It doesn't suddenly make all RTs bad or boxer engines for that matter. William certainly had his share of bad luck! His first bike also had some issues: http://www.bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/r1200rt-final-drive-bearing-failure http://www.bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/r1200rt-rear-wheel-semi-lockup-speed Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

I've done over 200,000 miles (MILES) on BMW's over the past few years in Europe. Of all the bikes, on an 1100RSSE, I lost a 3rd gear and BMW repaired the bike, even though it was out of warranty. On the RT, I did a tour of Ireland with the bike loaded with camping and travel gear and we popped the shock. As the bike had only done 19K miles, BMW stumped for 1/2 the price to replace. The reason I ride BMW's is because on a Thursday night, I could decide to take off for the South of France (or my favourite La Rochelle), and I wouldn't have to think twice about the bike being reliable/able/serviced to do the trip. It is always ready. I know that occassional gremlins get into the system, but by and large, the BMW is incredibly reliable. I'm sure that the problem will turn out to be quite small and insignificant and the rumble will be a storm in a teacup. Hope you're sorted soon, Lawrence Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safetly in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadsides, loudly proclaiming WOW, What a RIDE!
