Hi Guys,

One of my ABS sensors are faulty and need to be replaced, because my speedo is not working I assume it might be the rear wheel ABS sensor. Does anyone have an old one, still in working condition? I just need it for testing purpose to confirm if it is the rear sensor before I buy the wrong one.

It is confirmed that the ABS pump is not faulty, but one of the two sensors.

Hi Jp,

I have 1200 GS 2007...

I don't think that they will work.

Easy test, put the bike on the main stand, start engine, engage second gear and release the clutch. Once the back wheel is spinning you should get a reading on the speedo. If not, it is the back sensor.

Also brake hard with your rear brake. if the back wheel locks up, no ABS. As the sensor can not determine the speed of the rotation.

But then again, I thought the ABS computer should give you a warning by flashing if it does not work?

I will give it a try, the ABS light does not flash. I also noticed that something is draining my battery, I'm starting to think I might have a short somewhere.

You are welcome to try this however the back wheel will lock up, and then try it with the front wheel after that. Be careful you do not enjoy the feeling of no front teeth....  it will also lock up.

ABS disengages when it is not happy with the system, braking carries on as per normal but no regulation takes place...   ABS light will burn constantly ......   ABS flashes when busy working, during a attempt to slow a wheel down...

And that is exactly why everyone on a GS should do the Country Trax into to offroad training:

you learn how to lock the front or back wheels without falling.  On slippery grass I can even ride some distance with the front locked.

Even if all you do is commute on tar, having extra skills improves your ability to survive situations.
