I am looking for good quality ratchet tie downs with a loop - have tried all the regular stores such as Flying Brick, Trac-Mac and the main retailers such as Builders Warehouse and Outdoor Warehouse - unable to find any with a loop. Any ideas where I can get it?

I made my own - also couldn't find any.

If its for the bike, have  you looked at  Roc straps from Flying Brick, they have the loop and a plastic buckle/clip so you pull them tight rather a ratchet mechanism?

You can still get good tension on them.

A pack of 2 straps are around R200.

Froggy.

Hi David.

I have two re-usable ratchet tie-downs which I have bought from Outdoor Warehouse at Willowbridge some 4 yrs ago.  Almost the big daddy of the largest cable ties if that is what you are looking for. These are heavy duty ones and very strong and durable. Will try to remember to bring to the next club meeting to view .

Thanks Froggy - somehow I will feel more comfortable with a ratchet type fastener. Flying Brick say they cannot help me - although I must say that surprised me.

Thanks Jacques - perhaps I should try another branch of Outdoor Warehouse as Willowbridge did not have the ones with the loop.

Sorry the stupid thing is that I didn't read the title where you mentioned a trailer.

i saw some ratchet straps  in Tracmac Belville the other day, I'm not sure about a loop though.

I don't guarantee success, but ask BikeGear in PE if they are still around. If so, I'm sure they would courier to you

Andyman is your guy here.

Contact him. He had bunches of these "loops" made up for specifically this purpouse ( to fasten a bike on a trailer ). Sells them at cost to club members, and they work perfectly. Then you can use a normal ratchet strap to work with the "ANDYLOOPS".

Not sure if he still have some left, but worth a try.

Chris here, from Flying Brick; we DO have loop strap tie-down options in stock, I suspect my guys did not know about the loop (I have fixed that!), so pop in again, and we WILL help you.

(We are also a bit thin on stock, so a good chance for me to get a better selection into stock)

Cheers, Chris & Team

Thanks Chris, somehow I knew you would be able to assist - this is what all the BMW Club guys have become accustomed to. I will pop in again.

David. Did you come right on the tie downs? I have used tie downs from Dirt Rider in Montague Gardens on my 1200GSA on trailer. Same ones as for MX and Enduro bikes. They are not what I call a ratchet but worked quite fine.

Yes, we DID have what he was looking for, nd sold him a set - will let him post his impressions, etc here...

One of our salesman was UNAWARE of the hidden 'loop' on this particular tie-down set, we have rectified that!

thanks, Chris & Team

Chris was very helpful - many thanks to him. I now have my tie downs but have not had an opportunity to try them out. Will do so shortly and post comment.
