On the 2006 and earlier 1200GS the trim panels [the cheeks behind the beak usually black, whereon the badge is mounted. ]are secured with 2 silver turn- button screws >visable and 1 plastic one at front bottom inside [@forks area].This plastic one has been known to come loose causing the trim panel to blow back ,adding excitement to the ride. A screw ,washer, and body nut are used on 2007 bikes .You can change , no modifcation needed remove old and fit these. Part No 06-32-7-657-966 screw ;07-11-9-904-2 washer ; 61-13-1-372-033 body nut.If any questions phone me as typing is a 1 finger search.0827723527 LHSTrim PanelLHSTrim Panel RHS Trim Panel veiwed from inside: Screw visible this was a plastic/nylon knobRHS Trim Panel veiwed from inside: Screw visible this was a plastic/nylon knob LHS Trim Panel: With screw visible on inside of RHS trim panelLHS Trim Panel: With screw visible on inside of RHS trim panel

Niel I only type with two fingers on each hand. After a number of text books these fingers start moving automatically to the next letter on the keyboard. :) Hang in there it gets better - very quickly, almost like riding in the sand.

My dear ageing friend, life gets tougher as you get older, Neil remember "You cannot teach an old dog new tricks" so you'll have to stick with 1 finger typing. Bum in the saddle, always.

Think before you ink.

Trust is the most valuable asset.

I have the rest of my life to get old.

Gents, I just met Gary a 1200GS rider who had a trim panel blow back on him. Check this on your bike, if yours is 2007 or earlier and still has the black plastic turn -button clip system ...CHANGE IT, it's money and time well spent!!
