R 1150 manual choke/fast idle function

Please can a boff on this forum help me understand the fast idle or choke on the 1150's.
Is it a fast idle or a choke, big differences.
And what is the implication if like me you forget to re-set it off once pulling off and on your trip?
I often arrive at the stop-go traffic and find my idle revs high and only then remember to set the switch off. Does it do anyting bad to the bike?

Andy, it is nothing more than a fast idle. It has no "choke" relation and will make no impact if you continue to ride with it out - you'll get a surprise though as you come to a traffic light and it feels like you're on the wire.

Andy, this cable runs to a little box where the two cables are attached to a pulley where your throttle cable comes from. The pulley opens the fuel injectors via the two short cables. If your throttle gets a bit sticky, then you have to strip the box, guess what, its under the ABS pump.

Its a fast idle, forgetting it on should not harm the bike as it is not enriching the fuel mixture.
