I just want to hear if anyone has had the same experience: my 2006 GS front and back wheel bearings are worn and have to be replaced, but the bike only has 70,000km on the clock.

Surely that is not normal?

Yeah, that's life.

Life's a beach.

I've replaced a front wheel bearing on an R100 RT 1980 at 172 000km

Ive never replaced an 1150 front bearing, not even after 182 000km

my 2010 R1200GSA is on 82500 km and bearings run fine

On of my R1150 GSA'a had the rear bearings replaced at 105 000km on advisement as they apparently go at 100 000km. should never have doen it 'spose, 'cos the the bearings then collpased again and again, until Shane did it all himself and it ran fine and is still running fine.

But bearings is bearings and this mnust have been an odd batch on thta day in the factory.

First of all if your talking about a R model GS its not wheel bearings, its a final drive on the rear or more commonly known as a differential. On the 1150 or 1150 gs the maintenance is milage dependant. On the 1200 GS however the main rear wheel bearing (which is your crown wheel bearing on the diff) is NOT lubricated by the final drive oil and is just sealed with grease from the factory. They would often work in to much play and would have to be replaced.

If your talking about the F800GS it had a rear wheel bearing problem. They were replaced often, the bearings are justb not of the best quality.

And if its a G model 650n there was a range of bikes that came out of the factory with a incorrect circlip part and would damage the rear wheel bearings.

Saying all that. The worst thing for wheel bearings is a pressure washer so watch out!

Hope this helps.

Yup my buddy just has his F800GS rear wheel bearing collapse at 25000km.

From the pic he sent it looks like the hub may be damaged too.
