12 bikes and 16 people gathered at Engen Plattekloof for this ride. Martin and Annetjie Colman and Danie and Caren Jordaan joined for their first ride with the club. Jane’s brother also came along to ride with us. William was also back for his first ride after his back operation. He still gets a nasty twitch in his back when he changes gears on the bike, thus he only accompanied us until Ladies Mile. Hopefully his next ride will be a little further.

At Ladies Mile I was reminded that this was an invitational ride. Suddenly everybody just started getting comfortable and chatty. Dave and I eventually just had to start our bikes to remind everybody that we still had some distance to go. A nice slow cruise over Ou Kaapse weg took us all the way to Simonstown. By now we were 22 bikes and 30 people.
Special bike parking
At Quaterdeck we pulled into “normal” parking bays, as we know that the cops frown on bikers leaving normal bays open to cars. Before I had removed my helmet the manageres was there to show us that she had arranged parking next to the bus lane for us. A large number of tables were reserved for us. The service was top-notch. The food was also very tasty.
I had to go straight back to home, so Neil led the “extended ride”. I am sure he will report back on their ride. I will post some picture at a later stage.
Remember the DAY RIDE on 26 December 2007.
