Praise when due

We are easy to moan but when praise is due we keep quite! Yesterday I took my bike in for its 60000 km service. As usual at the before event interview by the workshop foreman the small extra things to be done where mentioned and noted down. I just came back from a 4500 km trip through the Transkei and Lesotho and for the ones that have been there you know how the roads are, especially when it rains like it does this time of the year! This trip was hard on the bike and it also didn’t look so good after getting driven over by an over enthusiastic Basotho taxi driver that split before I could donner him! Last night I picked up my trusty horse and lo and behold it looked like it looked before I left for my trip! Gareth you went beyond your call of duty and this is greatly appreciated, you are my hero and surely many more people must feel the same. From the onset of my visit to HAMMAN MOTORRAD yesterday it was just a pleasant experience. From the cup of coffee as I arrived to the great service by Gareth and his team, the running around of the spare part guys after-hours to get me some additional parts is greatly appreciated. The atmosphere when everyone greets you is rejuvenating! Chris I wish you and your team the best for the next few weeks during this trying time of having to move premises, I know you are going to make a success of it because I have experienced it already. Thanks

I didn't post it here, but I did thank Chris personally for my previous sparkling service: Imagine my surprise when I got the cruiser back with polished chrome!

I am amazed at how many people drop their bike in for a service and it is dirty!! I always clean a bike before taking it in for service. I mean, you do brush your teeth before going to the dentist, and you do make sure you are clean all over when going to the doctor. ???!!? So why take a dirty bike in? If I was the mechanic, to me it would demonstrate how much respect (Actually how little) you have for yourself and even less for the mechanic who has to work on a filthy bike. They have to open up orifices to drain fluids and re-ill and remove body parts and put them back again. Only then do they wash them down. Amazing the bikes you see dropped off dirty for service. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

Oh, so you saw Mr. Badger waiting for his service did you? I left him dirty so Shane could see where the oil leaks were ;-) Anyway, Mr. Badger had his 100 000 km service and there was very little that needed doing apart from standard consumables. And that bike gets '''ridden'''. When I practice in the evenings, my criterion for stopping the practice is after 5 falls. Shane also cleaned the BMC air filter (which I '''had''' done a few weeks ago in anticipation of the service). Actually, cleaning the air filter is akin to brushing your teeth - washing the bike is akin to bathing. Website Administrator [http://honeybadger.net Honey Badger IT Services]

Back to the topic, for a moment. When my bike went to Hamman for the service I was kept informed through out the day about what was needed and what was being done. THANKS !

Wrong Andy, my bike was clean when I took it in for its service, cleaned it on Sunday when I got back from the trip, washed the suits as well! Do it today, maybe there is no tomorrow! Die malletjie

Ya Malletjie, but you are a gentleman, I'm generalising. not you specific. I myself recovered my bike out in the cuds and dropped it off at 04H45 at the dealer in all it's dusty glory. Only time ever though. Still it amazes me how people drop off a dirty bike for service. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.
