(Price reduced) BMW Club Overnight Off Road ride to Sutherland 23rd - 24th May (Not the annual Tour)

(I have decided not to take the back up vehicle and this therefore reduces the price to R300 per person)
On my recent trip to Douglas in my 4x4 I rode a really nice track that does not appear on Mapsource of T4A on my GPS.
I found it when I came upon a locked gate and needed to find a road to Sutherland as it was almost dark. What a great road it turned out to be.
Bring your partners to join in the fun with us.
The plan is therefore as follows :
Meet at the Engen one stop on the N1 Joostenburg Vlaktas at 0730 on Saturday 23rd May and depart at 0800 for the Wimpy in Ceres for breakfast and a refuel.
After breakfast we depart for Sutherland following some old and new tracks.
Saturday afternoon arrive in Sutherland refuel and chill out.
Dinner in the evening is included in the price.
Sunday morning after breakfast we will depart for Cape Town on a pre determined off road route possibly via Middlepos.
I have booked out The Prokureurshuis.
It sleeps 8 .
The Galaxy can sleep 6 people.
Ouplaas - sleeps 4 and Poets House which sleeps 4 as well.
Cost per person including dinner, bed & breakfast :
R300 per person.

I would have loved to go but unfortunately it seems to be the same weekend as the Lamberts Bay overnight trip for which we have already booked.

I have been asked to give a grading for the ride.
A bit difficult as I drove it in the height of the pouring rain Friday before last so the roads were rivers.
Mainly reasonably good to very good dirt roads with the occasional stream crossings which are hopefully dry. Some of these crossings are sandy but are mainly very short. Some rocky sections but not loose "rocks" more like shale. Quite twisty turny in places.

Hi Geoff
You have not revealed route you plan but did Gannaga pass and that area weekend past and a lot of wash aways in river courses which criss cross that whole escarpment area. Still standing water as well but drying fast. Some of washaways were sharp and quite deep - one caught me and a few grand damage to screen of my bike. On the escarpment near Middlepos lots of quite long muddy section which were not fun with dual tyre so suggest those going have knobbies for a more comfortable ride. Lower section of the Tankwa near Matjiesfontein very much drier. As I say though if no rain the should dry very quickly.

The ride is still a way away so I will amend the route where and if necessary. The Middlepos option is just that and there are other options should I deem it dangerous in any way.

Ooh, I'm so keen, but am saving for my trip to Spain next month.

Ok, second group to Sutherland also full, besides Geoff’s group (22 people) we ( Wayne and I ) are taking another 16 people to the cold capital of the Western Cape. This stargazing village will never be the same again 38 BMW MMC members convoying onto the small dorpie!
Our group, not Geoff Russell's is leaving Saturday 23 may in the morning from Nelsons Creek at 07h00.
B&B and or hotel arranged, evening dinner for own account but table booked!
Wayne will contact all concerned regarding payment for accommodation!
