Dear GS owners and road bikes

The committee relevant to gravel rides as well as co-opted ride organiser Warren E met to thrash out the off road ride schedule.

This will be posted shortly so you can book leave, plan your calendar and arrange your biking life.

I will alternate a ride each month between morning rides close to Cpt and all-day rides around the Greater Cpt area.

Road bikes are always welcome to accompany us on the tar sections and I'll work out routes for tar.

I will also plan my Merwerville type ride for more advanced overnight riding.

Pete n Warren will plan all-day, overnight and weekend rides.

Geoff Russell will continue to plan his :-

-  West Coast Tour twice a year,

-  Wild Coast Tour in August

-  Eastern Cape Tour twice a year

But wait,    there's more...

We'll peg dates but not always announce the destination as this can change later depending on weather and who is going to organise and lead it.

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

After my trips I send all riders a feedback request along with my thanks to them for coming along.

Please let us know what it is you are wanting in a ride.

This is your club and we do this for biking enthusiasts, so knowing what you want helps us meet expectations.

Give it some thought and jot down some pointers.

We've noted that with 300+ members we are not managing to organise enough rides, but then why not get involved....

Here are some examples:-

:" Hi, we'd like to have pillion friendly rides."

"Cost is an issue, can we do some camping/ roughing it rides as well."

"I'm so nervous, the all day is too long for me, can we have more morning-only, shorter distance rides with a good mix of tar and good gravel"

"I want a faster pace, can we have more intermediate type quicker rides."

"I like the relaxed pace where we do not chase a deadline, but stop more often and take in the vistas..."

".. Tsmala li ehn o ifoni Thlamadino e-off-tar, i lapa ikaroo tanda niomo iKapa, sithoondoyo e zamalek."

"... and some rides where we have those training snippets slipped in at the breaks, like actually breaking the bead on a tyre in the field, watching someone do cones very slowly and shifting their weight around."

And if you WANT to help out and get involved in rides, then let us know.
