hi guys, I have just tried to start my 2005 R1200GS and the electrics seem to be doing whatever they want!

turn the ignition on and the needles do not flick to maximum then back, the servo is not firing up, sometimes the fuel guage and neutral light work, press the starter.... nothing!

it's obviously an electrical problem but i just wondered if anyone had come across this before. the battery is fully charged and connected correctly/securely.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance,

Neil

Hi,

Don't know if this is the reason for the problem you are experiencing, but I do remember the older GS1200 had that type of problem. This was the "ring sensor" around the key area, which serves as your immobiliser. (Please don't take me out on my terminology guys!). I had this on my 2007 model and this "ring sensor" had to be replaced.

Check the battery first.

The only problem with hindsight, is you don't see it coming!

Hi.

Check that your battery has Amps not Volts, that is what often happens to the battery normal battery chargers only test voltage, try another good working battery if you can?

Regards.
