new product at the Flying Brick Store, with a focus on AFFORDABILITY!: BATT Blue heavy duty 18" tubes...

We currently stock Heidenau heavy duty tubes, but at 4mm, they are HEAVY-duty, and they are priced around the R390-R450 mark, and are more difficult to repair...

We also stock Michelin MEDIUM weight tubes, 2.5mm, around R250 each...

So these BATT tubes, at 2.8mm, are still heavy-duty, but EASIER to repair than 4mm, at at just R169, are way more affordable....

only 18" available, yet plenty of stock available...

BATTECH Tuff Tubes are constructed from heavy-duty natural rubber, manufactured to resist sharp objects and impact punctures as well as pinching while changing tyres. They feature a totally unique blue colouring
The super-tough compound helps prevent against flats even in the most testing off-road conditions. The tubes are significantly thicker than OEM tubes and recommended to be used for all off road applications.
The Heavy Duty tubes are 2.8 mm thick. TR-6 8mm straight threaded metal valve stems are used to ensure valves stay in place during the most extreme off road applications.

Save yourself the aggravation and wasted time of a flat tyre while out on a ride or during a race by replacing your OEM tubes with BATTECH Tuff Tubes now..

Hi Chris. i have  a 1200gs with tubeless and a 17 and a 19 inch rim. if i carry an 18inch tube as an extra , in case i get a side wall tear or something like that...................would i be able to use an 18inch tube for both the 17 and the 19 inch rim?

yes, and no!

there is a risk - a serious risk, of tearing a valve seat when stretching an 18" tube to fit the LARGER 19" rim; far rather carry (only) a 19" tube, and then use that for both your 19" rim AND 17" rim: far better to (safely) stuff excess tube into a rim RATHER THAN stretch the tube to fit a larger rim!

Hope that helps!

Chris

Hi Gents,

Correct me if I am wrong, but the tube won't work if you have tyre pressure monitors.

Yes - but removing the RDC is apparently very easy - they just unscrew.  Keep them safe though - 'cause they are expensive to replace.

And you'll have to ignore the warning light - but most of us who ride with low tyre  pressures on the older models are already used to that.

Even though I have now joined the tubeless world, I still carry a 17 and 19 inch tube for those now extreme emergencies.

IMHO, stuffing a tube is just as dangerous as stretching a tube. Tried it unsuccessfully on my enduro bike, the tube chafed through rather rapidly when we fitted a 21 inch tube into a 18 inch rim and tyre.

And on a big dualie, the heat build up and chafe will be much more.

Many years of experience with tubes tyres have taught me that EHD tubes and even HD tubes to some extent are a bitch to work with next to the road. I have even had to cut a EHD tube out when I finally did manage to puncture it , meaning its not the ideal thing to carry as a spare.

I always had my heavier tubes fitted at a dealer, but I carried normal or HD tubes as spares.

Also, if you one day have to patch a tube, I would replace it asap. Its basically a get me home fix.
